LIBERIA LABOUR MINISTER KRUAH MITIGATE BEER FACTORY WORKERS' CRISES

January 27, 2026/Monrovia: Labour Minister Hon. Cllr. Cooper W. Kruah, Sr. and the Managing Director of the Monrovia Breweries Incorporated (MBI), Mr. C. Nelson Oniyama, have resolved to fully mitigate the ongoing industrial unrest at the company. Workers at the company have now resumed normal work, following Minister Kruah's swift intervention into their strike action. Of late, Beer Factory workers have been engaged in strike actions , accusing Management of 'unfair labour practices', alterations of their new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) and demands for the dismissal of the Human Resource Manager Mr. Brown Wesseh, for no verified and proven breach of any portion of the Decent Work Act (DWA). However, Labour Minister Kruah who chaired a crisis resolution meeting today at the company site on the Bushrod Island between the angry workers and Management, ordered the company not to dismiss any worker while negotiations to find permanent solutions to their demands and other root causes of the problems were ongoing and mandated the Human Resource Manager Mr. Brown Wesseh to immediately resume work, pending the conclusion of the ongoing mitigation process. Minister Kruah also called on the workers to call off their strke, while a sitting dialogue forum will resume this Thursday, January 29, at the Labour Ministry in Monrovia to finally address all outstanding issues related to the crisis. A Labour Ministry press release issued today following the end of Minister Kruah's engagement with Beer Factory Management and workers, disclosed that he warned against industrial unrest at workplace by workers on isolated issues, not directly linked to any labour violation. He also urged management to exercise maximum caution in handling workers' demands in the best interest of industrial harmony at the company, something which was buttressed by the company Managing Director, Dr. C. Nelson Oniyama. The workers
