A son of District #14, Freepor Community pen bleeds on Hon. Kerkula M. Kamare 👇👇

No one is more stingy 😒 than Muka Kerkula Kamara, the Representative of District #14.

He is the only Representative who gave just 30 pieces of timber for a major bridge that connects four key communities in the district. This bridge needs 1,800 pieces, but all he could provide—was 30 pieces, costing around USD 300. That’s nothing compared to his actual capacity. This is just pocket change for any representative in Liberia.

He also supported a district pageant, which was the first of its kind in District #14. But sadly, the prizes were disappointing. The office of the District was shown off, but the main prize was an old car, a very used car; a model of 1960. It was clearly used as a political trick, not something to be proud of.

The town hall project isn’t impressive either. Some of our people, especially those who haven’t traveled to see real development, may appreciate it. But those of us who’ve seen what Hon. Thomas Fallah did—like building a whole university with public funds and personalizing it—know this project is an insult in comparison.

Muka Kerkula Kamara’s leadership is the worst in the history of District #14. Of course, his paid agents will deny this, but the facts are clear.

How can a Representative fix a deplorable bridge that needs 1,800 pieces of timber, with just 30 pieces? That’s 10 pieces per side for the three most affected communities. If the timber is only used for the floor, what about the sides and support of the bridge?

This kind of leadership is a disgrace to the district.

In an effort to preserve Liberia’s history and promote national healing, the April 22nd Memorial Group has announced plans for a major remembrance ceremony, scheduled for Tuesday, July 1st, 2025.

By: Andrew B Weah

Speaking to a team of reporters during the signing of the book of condolence for the late President William R. Tolbert, Jr., Cllr. Yvette Chesson, a representative of the group, disclosed that the event will honor the 20th President of Liberia and thirteen senior officials who, according to her, were unjustly executed during the April 12, 1980 coup.

The program will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the Centennial Pavilion on Ashmun Street in Central Monrovia. It will feature tributes and historical reflections on the lives and service of the fallen statesmen.

Following the official ceremony, attendees will proceed to the Liberia Baptist Theological Seminary in Paynesville for the dedication of the newly constructed April 22nd Memorial Remembrance Park. The park is expected to serve as a permanent site for reflection, education, and national reconciliation.

Organizers say the initiative is not only about honoring the past but also about creating a space that encourages dialogue, peacebuilding, and historical awareness for future generations.

The Chair for Trade and Commerce at the Liberia BusinessAssociation, Mr. Dominic Nimley, has expressed confidence in the Boakai-Koung administration’s commitment to advancing the Liberianization policy—an initiative aimed at empowering local entrepreneurs and restricting certain sectors of business to Liberians only.

By: Andrew B Weah

Speaking to reporters at his office in Monrovia, Mr. Nimley revealed that Vice President Jeremiah Koung has given his assurance that a high-level meeting will soon take place with President Joseph Boakai to lay out a strategic plan for strengthening Liberian-owned businesses.

Mr. Nimley, who has long championed the interests of local businesspeople, emphasized that the Chamber’s goal, through its Patel Plan, is to promote economic empowerment for Liberians. He said the plan specifically targets three core areas:
— the protection of Liberian-owned businesses,
— full implementation of the Liberianization policy, and
— increased access to finance for local entrepreneurs.

He noted that with the right political will and policy enforcement, Liberians can meaningfully participate in and benefit from their own economy.

Breaking: PRESIDENT BOAKAI NOMINATES ASSOCIATE JUSTICE GBEISAY AS CHIEF JUSTICE OF THE SUPREME COURT

June 30, 2025

Executive Mansion, Monrovia– President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr. has nominated Associate Justice Yamie Quiqui Gbeisay as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Liberia, pending confirmation by the Liberian Senate.

The nomination was made in accordance with Article 54(c) of the 1986 Constitution of Liberia, which grants the President the authority to appoint the Chief Justice, Associate Justices, and Judges of Subordinate Courts. Additionally, the nomination aligns with Article 72(b) of the Constitution, which mandates retirement of Justices upon reaching the age of seventy.

In a letter addressed to Senator Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence, President Pro-Tempore of the Liberian Senate, President Boakai described Justice Gbeisay as a “distinguished jurist [who] has demonstrated exemplary integrity, profound legal acumen, and commitment to upholding the rule of law and the Constitution.”

President Boakai called on the Honorable Liberian Senate to “expeditiously consider and confirm this nomination.”

Justice Gbeisay’s appointment, if confirmed, will mark a continuation of his longstanding judicial service and dedication to the Liberian legal system.
