Rep. Chiewolo Celebrates Liberia’s 179th National Flag Day in Zolowo, Launches US$1,000 Contribution to Clinic Project

Zolowo Town, Lofa County — Representative Augustine B. Chiewolo of Electoral District #5, Lofa County, on Monday, August 24, 2026, joined citizens and residents of Zolowo Town to celebrate Liberia’s 179th National Flag Day, in a celebration that also marked his birthday.

The joint celebration was held under the national theme, “From Heritage to Hope, The Flag That Unites Us,” and brought together citizens, community leaders, elders, women, youth, and residents of Zolowo Town to commemorate the significance of Liberia’s national flag while supporting an important community development initiative.

A major focus of the celebration was a fundraising drive for the ongoing construction of a clinic in Zolowo Town, a community-driven project being undertaken by residents of the township to improve access to basic healthcare services.

Speaking at the occasion, Representative Chiewolo launched the fundraising effort with a US$1,000 contribution toward the clinic construction. He further pledged 50 bags of cement to support the ongoing project, describing the initiative as an important investment in the health and wellbeing of the people of Zolowo and surrounding communities.

Representative Chiewolo said community development requires collective responsibility and urged residents to continue supporting initiatives that directly respond to the needs of their communities.

In his remarks, Representative Chiewolo emphasized the importance of unity, reconciliation, peace, and cooperation among citizens of Electoral District #5.

He particularly appealed to the people of Zolowo Town to put aside their differences and work together for the advancement of their community.

He noted that natural resources extracted from communities should contribute to the wellbeing and development of the people, rather than leaving communities without tangible benefits.

The Representative called for greater attention to the impact of mining activities on local communities and emphasized the need for responsible management of natural resources in a manner that benefits residents.

Representative Chiewolo reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the people of Zolowo Town and contributing to initiatives aimed at improving the living conditions of residents.

He said his support for the clinic construction represents part of his broader commitment to community development across Electoral District #5.

REP. CHIEWOLO BREAKS GROUND FOR CHRIDA HOUSE OF PRAYER IN ZORZOR, DONATES US$500 AND 50 BAGS OF CEMENT

Zorzor Administrative District, Lofa County — August 23, 2026: Representative Augustine B. Chiewolo has broken ground for the construction of the Christian Interdenominational Assemblies (CHRIDA) House of Prayer in Zorzor City, Lofa County, reaffirming his commitment to supporting faith-based initiatives and projects that promote spiritual growth and community unity.

During the groundbreaking ceremony, Representative Chiewolo made an initial contribution of US$500 and 50 bags of cement toward the construction of the House of Prayer.

The lawmaker described the project as an important undertaking that will provide a dedicated place for Christians to worship God, pray, fellowship, and strengthen their commitment to the Christian faith.

Representative Chiewolo emphasized that the construction of a temple dedicated to God is not merely about putting up a physical structure, but about creating a place where people can seek God, find spiritual encouragement, and build stronger relationships with one another.

Referencing 1 Corinthians 3:9, which teaches that believers are “God’s building,” Representative Chiewolo said the physical structure should serve as a reflection of the spiritual work being carried out within the Christian community.

He also referenced Haggai 1:8, where the prophet encourages the people to build the house of God, noting that investing in places of worship can contribute to the spiritual transformation and development of communities.

The Representative further encouraged members of the church and residents of Zorzor to take ownership of the project and contribute according to their abilities, stressing that successful community projects are built through collective commitment and sacrifice.

Representative Chiewolo assured the church that his support does not end with the initial contribution. He said he will continue to contribute to the project as construction progresses and as the initiative reaches different stages of development.

“This is only an initial contribution. As the project progresses, I will continue to support it to the best of my ability. We want to see this House of Prayer completed and become a place where generations can come together to worship, pray, and serve God,” Representative Chiewolo said.

The lawmaker also commended Rev. David Zawu, Pastor of the church and Head of the Zorzor District Union of Churches, for his continued service to the work of God, describing him as a humble and dedicated servant of God.

Representative Chiewolo praised Rev. Zawu's leadership and commitment to promoting Christian fellowship and unity among churches in Zorzor and surrounding communities.

ZOLOWO TOWN SET TO HOST GRAND BIRTHDAY AND NATIONAL FLAG DAY CELEBRATION FOR REP. CHIEWOLO

Zolowo Town, Lofa County — The Office of Hon. Augustine B. Chiewolo, Representative of District #5, Lofa County, is pleased to announce that preparations are underway for a grand joint celebration of the Representative’s birthday and Liberia’s National Flag Day in Zolowo Town on Monday, August 24, 2026.

The celebration, being organized in collaboration with the leadership and people of Zolowo Township, is expected to bring together citizens, traditional leaders, local authorities, national and local government officials, political leaders, and well-wishers from across District #5 and beyond.

A major highlight of the celebration will be a special football match between Salayea and Zolowo Town, bringing together young people and communities in the spirit of unity, sportsmanship, and friendship.

The event is expected to be attended by Commissioners of the Zorzor and Salayea Administrative Districts, the Mayors of Zorzor and Salayea, chiefs, elders and traditional leaders, as well as other national and local government officials.

Political and community representatives expected to participate include officials of the Unity Party, Lofa County Chapter, and representatives of the National Independent Movement for Boakai (NIMBO).

The people of Zolowo are also expected to formally honor Representative Augustine B. Chiewolo and his beloved wife, Mrs. Antoinette Chiewolo, in recognition of their relationship and continued engagement with communities across District #5.

In a separate gesture of appreciation, the Township of Zolowo is expected to officially honor Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Thomas P. Fallah, for his continued support to the people of District #5, Lofa County.

As part of his visit to Zolowo, Representative Chiewolo is expected to launch a fundraising initiative in support of the Zolowo Health Center.

Rep. Augustine B. Chiewolo Lunches Single Parents Empowerment Network ( SPEN-Liberia), Donates L$25,000 and Pledges US$1,000 to Empower Single Parents

ZORZOR, Lofa County– The Single Parents Empowerment Network (SPEN)-Liberia officially launched its operations on Saturday in Zorzor city with a program attended by community leaders, beneficiaries, and stakeholders from across Lofa County.

SPEN-Liberia is a local organization established in Zorzor, Lofa County, with the mission of empowering single parents through skills training, economic opportunities, and advocacy across Zorzor, Lofa, and Liberia at large.

Hon. Augustine B. Chiewolo, Representative of District #5 Lofa County, served as a special guest and chief Luncher at the event. He commended the Founder, Mr. Oliver Paye, and the leadership of SPEN-Liberia for taking bold steps to address the challenges faced by single parents.

In his remarks, Representative Chiewolo shared a personal story to highlight the importance of the initiative:
_“I was raised by a single parent. My mother passed away in the 1980s, and I was brought up by a single parent. I know the difficulties and the sacrifices that come with it. Children raised by single parents often grow up to be focused, determined, and resilient.”_

He called on government, civil society, and citizens to support SPEN-Liberia, noting that investing in single parents is investing in stronger families and communities.

As part of the launching program, Representative Chiewolo presented an initial contribution of L$25,000 to SPEN-Liberia. The donation was made as an initial contribution to the organization.

Representative Chiewolo also pledged US$1,000 to SPEN-Liberia, to be disbursed over a one-year period based on the organization’s activities and performance outcomes.

The Office of Hon. Augustine B. Chiewolo, Representative of District #5, Lofa County, extends its deepest sympathy and heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, colleagues, and loved ones of Mr. Joseph K. Nyandibo, Founder and Publisher of the Lofa Eye Newspaper, following his sudden and untimely passing.

Mr. Nyandibo was a distinguished media professional and valued media partner to our office. Through his dedication to journalism, he consistently contributed to highlighting the development, progress, and aspirations of the people of Lofa County.

His passing is a great loss not only to his family and loved ones, but also to the entire Lofa Eye family, the media community, the people of Lofa County, and particularly the people of Kolahun District, whom he served and represented through his work.

Representative Augustine B. Chiewolo Donates US$1,000 Toward Construction of Modern Latrine at Zorzor Women’s Activities Hall

ZORZOR CITY, LOFA COUNTY — Representative Augustine B. Chiewolo of Electoral District #5, Lofa County, has presented US$1,000 as an initial contribution toward the construction of a modern latrine and sanitation facility at the Zorzor Women’s Activities Hall in Zorzor City, Zorzor Administrative District.

The donation is intended to support efforts by the women of Zorzor and the Zorzor City authorities to replace the existing latrine attached to the Women’s Activities Hall, which has deteriorated over time and is now in need of major rehabilitation and modernization.

The US$1,000 contribution was formally presented to the Zorzor City Mayor and the leadership of the Zorzor women, who are expected to work together in coordinating the implementation of the project.

The contribution represents the initial financial support from Representative Chiewolo toward the project. The lawmaker has expressed his commitment to providing additional assistance as construction progresses, subject to the development and needs of the project.

The initiative also reflects Representative Chiewolo’s longstanding commitment to improving sanitation and community infrastructure in Zorzor and across Lofa County.

Prior to becoming a lawmaker, Representative Chiewolo, through the Friends of Chiewolo (FOC), supported the construction of the existing latrine at the Zorzor Women’s Activities Hall before 2017.

However, with the passage of time and increased use of the facility, the existing structure has deteriorated and is no longer adequate to meet the sanitation needs of the women and other users of the hall. The proposed modern facility is therefore expected to provide a safer, cleaner, and more appropriate sanitation environment.

The new facility is expected to form part of broader efforts to promote proper sanitation, hygiene, dignity, and improved public health within the community.

According to the schedule developed by the Zorzor City authorities and the leadership of the women, preparations are underway, with construction of the modern latrine and sanitation facility expected to commence soon.

The local authorities and women’s leadership are expected to oversee coordination of the project, while Representative Chiewolo’s office remains committed to supporting the initiative as it progresses.

The lawmaker has repeatedly emphasized the importance of community-driven development and partnership between local authorities, citizens, and elected representatives in addressing critical needs within communities.
