Romans 8:5-8 (NIV) reads:

5 Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.
6 The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.
7 The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so.
8 Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God.

This passage highlights the contrast between living according to the flesh and living according to the Spirit, emphasizing the spiritual implications of one's mindset.

Title: Uncaged: Embracing the Freedom in Christ

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, today we gather under the theme "Uncaged: I cannot be caged," drawing inspiration from the powerful verses of Psalm 124:7-8 and Acts 2:24. These scriptures remind us of the incredible power of God to release us from any form of bo***ge or confinement.

As we reflect on the stories of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the fiery furnace, Daniel in the lion's den, Joseph in prison, Paul and Silas praising God in prison, Peter's miraculous escape from prison, the barren wombs of Sarah, Elizabeth, and Hannah being opened, Sampson breaking free from chains, and most importantly, the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ from the grave, we are reminded that God's power knows no bounds. He is the ultimate liberator, the one who breaks every chain and sets the captives free.

Just as these heroes of faith were able to defy the odds and break free from their physical or emotional prisons, we too can experience that same freedom in Christ. We are not meant to be caged by fear, doubt, sin, or any other form of bo***ge. We are children of the Most High God, destined for greatness and called to walk in freedom and victory.

When the enemy seeks to imprison us with lies, temptations, or trials, we must remember that we serve a God who is greater than any obstacle we may face. Like Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, we can walk through the fire unscathed. Like Daniel, we can rest peacefully in the midst of the lions. Like Joseph, we can thrive even in the darkest of places. Like Paul and Silas, we can sing praises in the midst of our struggles. Like Peter, we can experience divine rescue in our times of need.

Just as Sarah, Elizabeth, and Hannah experienced the miraculous opening of their wombs, we can trust in God's perfect timing and His ability to bring forth new life and blessings in our barren seasons. And like Sampson, we can break free from any chains that seek to hold us back, knowing that our strength comes from the Lord.

Above all, we stand in awe of the ultimate victory of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ over death and the grave. If the grave could not contain Him, then nothing in this world can ever truly cage us. We are free indeed, empowered by the Spirit of God to live boldly, courageously, and victoriously in every area of our lives.

So let us rise up, dear brothers and sisters, in the fullness of our identity as children of God. Let us declare with boldness and conviction: "I cannot be caged, for the Spirit of the Living God dwells within me!" May we walk in the freedom and victory that is ours in Christ, shining as beacons of hope and light in a world that desperately needs the transformative power of our God.

Amen.

Around the end of February 2024, we had an amazing and transforming experience at Meridian University Bootcamp in Ganta, Nimba County.

Meridian University primarily uses storying as the means to equip believers in Evangelism and disciple-making. Many people in the world are oral learners and stories are an effective way to train people in God's Word. Not only are stories effective for people who are oral learners but for those, who can't read and write, learning stories orally is the only way to the glean the truth of God's word.

Jesus often used stories and parables to communicate truth. In fact 75% of the Bible is in story format. Meridian wants to reproduce this model by storying and using tools that are effective, simple, reproducible and culturally relevant.

We have been using storying for almost a decade and have been blessed by God to see fruit all over the world. Our passion is to produce disciples makers that would produce disciple-makers.

Many thanks to Daddy Ralph Speas and Brother Greg Best for the time shaped together in Ganta, Nimba County.
