Oppressors of Yesterday; Protestors of Today

Twisting the Protest, the irony is, the very individuals who once upheld systems of oppression are now parading themselves as champions of justice.

The Protest organized under the banner "STAND / opposition CDC seh refused to stand today" is a glaring example of performative activism.

Attendance is embarrassingly poor, with barely a handful of participants scattered across most publicized venue most of whom seemed more interested in photo ops than genuine advocacy.

The protest is more than a hollow gesture, lacking both credibility and convictionconviction of even the very CDCians that was oppressed yesteryears during the misrule of the CDC.

What made the protest even more surreal was the presence of former enforcers of the status quo, now attempting to rebrand themselves as revolutionaries.

The turnout and the shallow messaging underscored a deeper problem.

When movements are led by those who once silenced dissent, their calls for change ring hollow.

Fire Service Warns Against Blocking Alleys, Announces Recruitment Plans Six New Fire Trucks Expected Soon

The Liberia National Fire Service (LNFS) has issued a stern warning to the public regarding the illegal construction of buildings in alleyways, citing serious dangers to emergency response efforts.

Deputy Director General Edwin Tisdell emphasized that blocked alleys severely impede the ability of firefighters to access fire scenes, delaying response times and increasing the risk to both lives and property.

“Unauthorized structures in narrow alleys are a major obstacle during emergencies,” Tisdell said. “These blockages can mean the difference between saving a home and losing everything.”

To boost firefighting capacity, Tisdell revealed that six new fire trucks are expected to be delivered to Liberia within the next two months. He said the additions will significantly enhance the LNFS’s ability to respond to emergencies more effectively across the country.

In addition to the incoming equipment, the fire service is preparing to roll out a nationwide recruitment campaign aimed at expanding its team of trained firefighters. According to Tisdell, the initiative will increase manpower and help improve public safety.

The LNFS is appealing to the general public to support its efforts by avoiding illegal constructions and ensuring access routes remain clear. Tisdell reiterated the critical need for unobstructed alleys and pathways to enable swift intervention during fire emergencies.
