When I was backstage at the MLMA last year, I had the honor of meeting some of Liberia's biggest musical legends: Takun J, Mighty Blow, and Nasseman. When I greeted them, I naturally bent down as a sign of respect.
​A member of my team asked me why I never stood up straight when greeting them. I explained that I never will, because we aren't peers—they are my elders in this industry. No matter what I achieve, I'll always show them respect. When they enter a room, I stand. If there aren't enough chairs for them to sit down, I stand.
​I know that showing this kind of respect isn't common anymore, but I will always honor my elders. I prostrated myself for David, my senior.
