Silas Adekunle: The Nigerian Engineer Revolutionizing Robotics and Gaming
Silas Adekunle, a Nigerian-British robotics engineer, gained international recognition for his groundbreaking work in robotics and gaming. In 2016, at the age of 24, he co-founded Reach Robotics and introduced MekaMon, the world's first intelligent gaming robot. MekaMon combines robotics with augmented reality, offering users a unique gaming experience. The initial launch saw the sale of 500 units, each priced at $300.
In 2017, Adekunle secured an exclusive distribution deal with Apple, making MekaMon available in Apple stores across the United States and the United Kingdom. Adekunle holds a First Class Honours degree in Robotics from the University of the West of England, Bristol, where he also received an Honorary Degree of Doctor of Technology. Despite the initial success, Reach Robotics ceased operations in September 2019 due to challenges in the consumer robotics market.
