By Staff writer .
Harper, Maryland _ As the rural women commemorate their International Rural Women's Day in Maryland County, Senator James P. Biney has generously bestowed the sum of 500 United States Dollars to bolster the initiatives of the rural women in Maryland, as they prepare to welcome representatives from the remaining 14 counties for the celebration.
This significant event is scheduled to take place in Maryland on Wednesday, October 15, 2025.
The monetary presentation occurred in the office of the Harper City Mayor on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, and convened notable figures including Madam Marie Dioh, chairperson of the Harper District rural women, Newton Jah, Senator Biney's Public Relations Officer (PRO), and various office staffers, among others.
In delivering the funds on behalf of the Senator, Mayor Abraham Jackson articulated that this gesture was a result of his engagement with the senator following interactions with the women.
He conveyed that the women had reached out to him, informing him about their forthcoming International Rural Women's Day celebration and the letter addressed to the senator’s office requesting support.
Mayor Jackson emphasized that the Senator's office recognizes the pivotal role that women play in society and the myriad challenges they encounter, particularly in rural areas.
"This donation represents a modest yet meaningful gesture of the senator's support and appreciation for the unwavering dedication and resilience exhibited by these women."
"We are acutely aware of the adversities they face in supporting themselves and their families, and we hope that this contribution will alleviate some of their burdens."
"We also wish to seize this opportunity to encourage our rural women to persist in their pursuit of progress and to remain steadfast in their aspirations."
In a similar vein, Newton Jah, Senator James P. Biney’s County Relations Officer, who personally delivered the funds to Madam Dioh, extolled the rural women for their invaluable contributions to the community, asserting that their efforts will not go unnoticed, and the office is unwavering in its commitment to supporting their initiatives in any capacity possible.
He underscored that the senator is diligently working towards creating more opportunities for citizens, particularly rural women, whether through education, entrepreneurship, or access to essential resources.
"We aspire for this donation to engender a positive impact and inspire other individuals and organizations to extend their support to our rural women."
In receiving the funds on behalf of the rural women, Madam Marie Dioh expressed her profound gratitude to the senator and his county office, noting that although several letters had been dispatched to others seeking support, only Senator Biney has thus far responded.
"We have reached out to numerous individuals within the county, including other lawmakers, yet we have not received any responses until now, making this timely contribution all the more appreciated. We wholeheartedly thank the senator for this opportunity,"Madam Dioh asserted.
Madam Dio emphasized the importance of publicizing this information to prevent any potential misinterpretations.
"We applaud our industrious women within the county, and we invite everyone to join us in celebrating International Rural Women's Day.
Let us continue to uplift and empower one another for a more promising future,"Madam Dio concluded."""
