appointments in government affecting the Judiciary, the National Port Authority (NPA),

“On President Boakai and Private Jets

I’ve seen the debate around President Boakai’s use of private jets, and I think it’s important we look at this honestly and practically.

As someone who’s worked at a very senior level before and therefore flew and managed a fleet of private jets, I understand the value of time—especially for someone in charge of running a country.

Spending 10+ hours in airport lounges, dealing with long layovers and unreliable connections, doesn’t make sense when that time could be better spent doing the actual work of governing—whether in Liberia or abroad.

There are short, direct commercial routes where it makes sense to fly commercial—Monrovia to Accra, Abidjan, even Nairobi. But for places like Abuja or New York, where you’re dealing with long transits and frustrating delays, flying private isn’t about luxury—it’s about efficiency and effectiveness.

That said, let’s not pretend the optics don’t matter. Liberia is still struggling. People are hurting, and when the average person can’t afford a decent meal or basic healthcare, seeing leaders fly private can feel like a slap in the face.

But here’s the real issue: if Liberia was thriving—if people saw real change, better services, job opportunities, and a sense that their future was finally looking up—nobody would be talking about how the president flies. In fact, if the country was in a strong place, it might even make sense to invest in a government-owned plane that can be used for official travel and leased out when not in use.

At the end of the day, what matters most isn’t the flight—it’s the results. If the President is focused on delivering real progress for the Liberian people, then how he gets to the next meeting becomes a lot less important.

Let’s keep our eyes on what really counts: performance, not just perception.

President Boakai Departs Liberia to Attend West Africa Economic Summit in Nigeria

June 19, 2025

Executive Mansion, Monrovia – President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., departed the country earlier today, June 19, 2025, to participate in the West Africa Economic Summit (WAES), taking place from June 20–21, 2025, in Abuja, Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The West Africa Economic Summit brings together Heads of State, senior government officials, private sector leaders, and development partners from across the region to explore strategies for accelerating trade, investment, and regional integration. The summit is a key platform for shaping policies and partnerships that promote sustainable economic growth, job creation, and industrial development across West Africa.

President Boakai is scheduled to address the WAES Forum, where he will articulate Liberia’s vision for economic transformation and present investment opportunities in critical sectors such as agriculture, energy, infrastructure, tourism, and digital innovation.

He will also hold a series of bilateral and multilateral meetings with fellow regional leaders, investors, and institutions to advance Liberia’s development agenda and secure meaningful economic partnerships.

The WAES is being convened in fulfillment of a commitment made by Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during his chairmanship of ECOWAS in 2023 to organize a special summit focused on trade and investment in the region. The forum will culminate in the ECOWAS Summit of Heads of State and Government on Sunday, June 22, where leaders will deliberate on pressing regional issues including economic cooperation, peace and security, and sustainable development.

The President is accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising the following officials:

Ministry of Education and Liberia National Police Enforce Ban on Street Parades During Gala Day, Graduation, and WASSCE Celebrations

Monrovia, Liberia – June 18, 2025

The Ministry of Education (MoE), in collaboration with the Liberia National Police (LNP), announces the immediate enforcement of the ban on street parades associated with Gala Day, graduation, and WASSCE celebrations across all counties.

This decision is in response to increasing concerns over student safety, public disturbances, and repeated violations of the 2024/2025 Academic Calendar guidelines. In recent years, unauthorized street parades—often involving minors—have resulted in injuries and posed serious risks to public safety.

To clarify, this measure does not prohibit celebratory events.
Schools are encouraged to organize parades and programs in safe, controlled venues such as school campuses, town halls, stadiums, and open fields—spaces that allow joyful celebrations without compromising safety or public order.

The enforcement of this regulation is grounded in Article 15 of the Liberian Constitution, Sections 17.3 and 17.4 of the Penal Law, and the Liberian Education Reform Act of 2011, which mandate the protection of students and the preservation of peace.

Enforcement Measures:
Nationwide Police Deployment: The LNP will station officers across all 15 counties to monitor and prevent unauthorized school-related street parades.

Legal Accountability: Schools or organizations found in violation of this ban will be penalized in accordance with national laws and MoE regulations.

Oversight of Celebrations: Graduation and WASSCE-related celebrations will be monitored closely to ensure compliance.

Zero Tolerance for Reckless Conduct: Dangerous behaviors—such as students riding atop vehicles or dancing on moving cars—will not be tolerated and will result in immediate enforcement actions.

The Ministry of Education and the Liberia National Police jointly call on all school administrators, parents, and students to fully cooperate. Academic achievements must be celebrated in ways that uphold discipline, ensure safety, and reflect the dignity of Liberia’s educational standards.

The safety and success of every Liberian child remain our utmost priority. Let us work together to foster an environment of order, pride, and responsible celebration.

President Boakai Establishes Presidential Task Force in Response to U.S. Concerns

June 18, 2025

In response to wide-ranging concerns raised by the Government of the United States, issues which, if left unaddressed could lead to the imposition of a travel ban, President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., has established a high-level Presidential Task Force to lead a coordinated and cross-sectorial response.

Recognizing that the matters identified span multiple government ministries and agencies, the President will himself Chair the Task Force, with the Minister of Foreign Affairs designated as Co-Chair. The Task Force will include the following key institutions:

1.Ministry of Foreign Affairs
2.Ministry of Justice
3.Ministry of Health
4.Ministry of State for Presidential Affairs
5.Liberia National Police
6.Office of the National Security Advisor
7.National Security Agency

The inaugural meeting of the Task Force was convened on June 17, 2025, at the Executive Mansion and chaired by the President.

Present at the meeting were the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Justice, Inspector General of the Liberia National Police, Minister of State without Portfolio for Special Services, and the National Security Advisor.

Following its initial deliberations, the Task Force has developed a joint multi-sectorial work plan aimed at addressing the concerns comprehensively and with urgency.

Implementation of the work plan will be carried out in close collaboration with the U.S. Government and will be subject to ongoing monitoring and evaluation to ensure accountability and results.

President Boakai highlighted his Administration’s commitment to upholding good governance, the rule of law, and Liberia’s longstanding partnership with the United States.
