I have resigned from the Liberia Broadcasting System (LBS) after nearly nine years of dedicated and professional service. It has been an incredible journey, from serving as a reporter, covering the Legislature and the Executive Mansion, to hosting the Super Morning Show, and later serving as Director of Public Affairs and ultimately Director of News.

LBS shaped me into the professional I am today. During my time there, I reported stories that meaningful impact on our country. My reporting held the same governments (past and present) that paid me accountable. For that, I’m proud. My time on radio held the powerful to account and strengthened democracy in Liberia.

I engaged some of the toughest personalities through interviews - experiences that strengthened both my confidence and conviction.

While it is emotional to leave an institution I deeply love and care about, I am proud to have concluded my service in the same newsroom I stepped into on May 8, 2017 as a Reporter and Newscaster. That progression truly gladdens my heart.

To the four management teams under whom I served, thank you for the opportunities and the challenges that helped me grow. To the young and dedicated newsroom staff, I am deeply grateful for your cooperation, respect, and unwavering support. Regardless of my age, you stood by me with both moral and practical support. I will miss you all dearly. Please sustain and improve upon the small but very powerful reforms we undertook in a short period.

To our loyal audience, please continue listening to ELBC, the standard for professional broadcasting in Liberia.

I remain committed to contributing meaningfully to the development of our country. I thank you all, especially my mother, for always standing and praying for me.

I may return to LBS someday.

DRUG RAID IN CVI: THREE SUSPECTS ARRESTED, LARGE QUANTITY OF DRUGS SEIZED

A joint operation led by S/A Milton K Howard, General Commander, was conducted in the early hours of March 7, 2026, at the Belleyaley Gold Camp in CVI. The team executed a search and seizure warrant obtained from the Putu Magistrate Court, resulting in the arrest of three suspects and the seizure of a significant quantity of illicit drugs.

The suspects are identified as Blessing Sumo, a 24-year-old Liberian male; Solomon Akoi, a 42-year-old Nigerian male; and Doris Peter, aka Kumba, a 30-year-old Liberian female.

The seized drugs include ma*****na, Tramadol pills, Cocina, and Kush, with a total estimated value of over $4,225.72 USD (approximately 802,956.8 Liberian Dollars).

The suspects are currently undergoing investigation and are expected to be forwarded to court for prosecution on Monday.

Grand Gedeh County Land Authority PRO David Siah Karlor write 👇👇👇

It has come to our attention, as committed supporters of Mr. Paye Freeman, that the Liberia Land Authority (LLA) suspended the Grand Gedeh County Land Authority Administrator in October 2025, pending investigation into allegations that he misled the Authority regarding procedures connected to a Development Grant Deed. The matter reportedly involves an alleged violation of Article 49 of the Land Rights Act of 2018 and concerns a 500-acre land lease agreement in Grand Gedeh County involving a Burkinabe national. That lease was subsequently revoked by the LLA due to procedural concerns.

As law abiding citizens and supporters, we recognize the importance of accountability and adherence to established land governance laws. We understand that land administration is a sensitive responsibility that must be managed with transparency and in strict compliance with statutory requirements. At the same time, we believe that administrative justice must be fair, balanced, and consistently applied.

We note with concern that while Mr. Paye J. Freeman remains under indefinite suspension, other individuals reportedly connected to the matter, including Superintendent Alex Chersia Grant, County Attorney and County Land Dispute Officer county officials continue to serve in their respective roles without similar administrative action. We strongly believe that fairness and equal treatment should guide all decisions. Justice must not only be done but must be seen to be done, without selective enforcement or the appearance of unequal standards.

The LLA has stated that due process was followed in line with Chapter 4.2.3 of its Standing Orders. While we respect the Authority’s mandate and procedures, concerns persist among supporters that the prolonged nature of the suspension may be influenced by personal or political considerations. Such perceptions, whether accurate or not, risk undermining public confidence in institutional integrity.

We therefore call on local authorities, citizens of Grand Gedeh County, the judiciary, civil society organizations, Grand Gedeh YMCA Youth Council, GRAND GEDEH YOUTH DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION (GGYDA) and other relevant oversight institutions to carefully and independently review this matter. We respectfully urge that the investigative process be concluded in a timely and transparent manner. If no wrongdoing is established, Mr. Paye Freeman should be allowed to resume his duties, just as others have returned to work following suspension in similar circumstances. Fairness, transparency, and the rule of law must ultimately prevail.

Rural Women, CSOs and CBOs Call on President Boakai to Appoint Women to Grand Gedeh Local Authority

Women from rural communities, along with representatives of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) in Grand Gedeh County, have called on President Joseph Nyuma Boakai to appoint women to key positions within the county’s local government authority.

The call comes less than three years after a similar appeal, marking the second broad-based initiative by women’s organizations in the county advocating for increased female participation in governance.

The petition was formally presented at the Jeff Kojiee Forum in Zwedru, Grand Gedeh County. Reading the petition statement, Madam Albertie Siah, spokesperson for the women’s group, commended President Boakai for his efforts toward strengthening good governance in Liberia. She, however, urged his administration to intentionally consider qualified women for top leadership roles in Grand Gedeh’s local government.

Madam Siah emphasized the importance of women’s inclusion in both national and local governance structures and called on Liberians—particularly young people—to rally around and support women seeking strategic leadership positions.

“Since 1964, Grand Gedeh County has recorded only one female Superintendent and one Assistant Superintendent for Development,” she noted. “This does not promote gender equality and denies women the opportunity to demonstrate their leadership potential.”

In closing, the women appealed to President Boakai to empower women through appointments to strategic positions within local government and to create a more enabling environment for female candidates during election periods.

According to authorities of the National Patriotic Party (NPP), Philip Taylor was pronounced dead at the John F. Kennedy (JFK) Memorial Hospital.
