Former B**g County Lawmaker Criticizes Finance Minister Over Economic Hardship In Liberia

By Our Staff Writer

Former B**g County Electoral District #5 Representative, Edward W. Karfiah, has strongly criticized the Finance and Development Planning Minister of Liberia, Augustine Kpehe Ngafuan, accusing him of failing in his duties to stabilize the country’s economy.

Karfiah said the Finance Minister “is not doing his job,” stressing that the national legislature must “checkmate him” to ensure accountability.

According to the former lawmaker, the worsening economic situation has left many Liberians struggling to survive.

“Many of our people are going to bed hungry because the economy is tough,” Karfiah lamented.

He further noted that countless parents across Liberia can no longer afford to pay their children’s school fees, while inflation continues to rise.

He made the statement in Gbarnga on September 27, 2025, in an interview with journalists in the County.

"Drug Destroying the Lives of Young People Across Liberia"

Atty. Jonathan N. Flomo Discloses

By Our Staff Writer

B**g County– Concerned over the alarming rise in drug abuse among Liberia’s youth, Attorney Jonathan N. Flomo has disclosed that narcotic substances are destroying the lives and future of thousands of young people across the country.

According to Atty. Flomo, the easy availability of harmful substances—including co***ne, kush, tramadol, and marijuana—has contributed to widespread addiction, crime, and the breakdown of family structures.

The B**g County Attorney emphasized that many young Liberians, who should be the future leaders of the nation, are instead being, trapped in cycles of dependency and hopelessness in the hands of drugs.

Flomo further noted that unless urgent steps are taken by the government, communities, and parents, the country risks losing an entire generation to drugs.

He called for stronger laws, better rehabilitation programs, and increased public awareness campaigns to combat the crisis.

“The youth are our greatest asset,” Flomo stated. “But drugs are eating away at their potential. We must act now to save Liberia’s future.”

He made the statement at the official launching ceremony of the Say No to Drugs campaign in Gbarnga, B**g County, on September 19, 2025.
