Acting DG Saryee ended his Grand Gedeh Tour with three successful meetings with Superintendent Alex Grant and the County Attorney who is also head of the joint Security.
He held a joint news conference with the two officials, outlining his vision for LACRA and the numerous complaints from Local Buyers and farmers about continuous harassment from LRA custom officials.
“Nobody should collect tax on cocoa produce by Liberian farmers”. It is wrong and must stop Acting DG Saryee noted.
Superintendent Grant during the conference confirmed the issue of harassment from LRA personnel but asserted that he has been working to ensure the matter is laid to rest.
Hon. Saryee concluded his Grand Gedeh tour with a meeting with farmers and Local Buyers in Zwedru.
“We want to work to ensure our local buyers don’t go through the headache of coming to Monrovia to obtain license because few weeks from now, permit for registration will be uploaded on our website for easy access”. He noted during the meeting.
We are also introducing a platform for Mobile Money payment to further ease the burden of coming to Monrovia to do payment.
He laid special emphasis on the European Union Deforestation Regulations stating “LACRA is currently working with European Forest Institute (EFI) and other stakeholders to begin mapping our forest in an effort to strengthen the Country Traceability system”.
Hon. Saryee is currently heading to Lofa for similar engagement.
