I am deeply disturbed by the serious and unfounded allegations that have been made against my husband senator Zoe Emmanuel Pennue tonight.
Let me be absolutely clear,
I stand firmly by my husband.
These accusations are not only false, but they are also incredibly reckless, and without any credible evidence to support them.
We understand that family matters can become emotional, but making baseless claims, especially involving accusations as serious as murder, is not only morally wrong, it can also carry LEGAL CONSEQUENCES.
My husband is a man of integrity. If there are legitimate concerns, they should be addressed through proper channels and with proof,not through public defamation or emotional outbursts.

STAND Condemns The Liberia Council of Churches (LCC) For Its Decision To Honor Richard Nagbe Koon

STAND has expressed strong condemnation of the Liberia Council of Churches (LCC) for its decision to honor Richard Nagbe Koon, which they described as a discredited political figure associated with corruption and constitutional violations. According to STAND Chairman, Mulbah K Morlu Jr., this action by the LCC is viewed as a betrayal of the Church’s moral authority and a failure of spiritual leadership, undermining the legacy of respected leaders like Bishop George D. Brown.

STAND criticizes the LCC for aligning with injustice and elevating corruption, labeling this endorsement as a moral collapse and an unholy alliance between compromised clergy and corrupt politicians.

Meanwhile, STAND calls upon true Christians and independent churches in Liberia to reject this dishonorable act and demand the resignation of compromised clerics. It emphasizes that the LCC does not represent the true Church or the moral values of Bible-believing Christians in Liberia.

At the same time, STAND stated that honoring of Koon is framed as a sacrilege that insults the Church and perpetuates corruption in the nation. STAND insists that the July 17th protest against this moral decay is both necessary and inevitable.

Inspector General of Police, Gregory Coleman, has welcomed the donation of 25 alcohol testers to the Liberia National Police. The devices, donated by African Union Trading Company—owned by U.S. Army Sgt. Eric Twum will help fight drunk driving and reduce road accidents nationwide.

“This is a big step toward saving lives on our roads,” said IGP Coleman.

Grand Gedeh Civil Society Organizations Condemn the Violent Disruption at Smile FM and Call for Immediate Stakeholder Action

The Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) of Grand Gedeh County, under the umbrella of the National Civil Society Council of Liberia (NCSCL) Grand Gedeh Chapter, held an emergency meeting on May 6, 2025, at the office of GEFCINET in response to the disturbing events at Smile FM Community Radio on May 3, 4, 2025.

Smile FM, a critical platform for information and civic engagement in Zwedru and across Grand Gedeh, was forcibly shut down following a confrontation between opposing groups over the station's leadership and governance. This conflict, which has its roots in the illegal alteration of the Smile FM Constitution in 2018, has escalated dangerously. The Liberia National Police (LNP) has since barricaded the station.

We, the CSO of Grand Gedeh County, issue the following observations and recommendations to urgently de-escalate the conflict and restore the integrity and operation of Smile FM:

Observations:
1. The illegal amendment of the 2013 probated Constitution in 2018 remains the core cause of the ongoing crisis.

2. Many Board members of Smile remain unaware of the amendment of the station's constitution.

3. The attack on Smile FM and the subsequent closure of the station is condemned in the strongest terms.

Resolutions & Recommendations:
1. Stakeholder Engagement: The CSOs and stakeholders, including eight of the nine Board members participated in a fruitful meeting on May 7, 2025 and agreed that the 9 institutions with membership on the Smile FM Board convene an emergency Board meeting and resolute the matter.

2. Respect for the 2013 Constitution: We reaffirm that the 2013 probated Constitution is the only legitimate governing document of Smile FM and must be used until legally amended. All decisions, including elections, must be guided by this constitution.

3. Immediate Board Action: We call on the current Board to halt all recent appointments, convene an official Board meeting within three (3) days, and govern Smile FM following this meeting.

4. Non-Interference: All institutions and individuals outside the Board are strongly advised to refrain from interfering with Smile FM operations. Any concerns must be channeled through the appropriate institutional representatives on the Board.

5. As stated in the CSOs September 6, 2024, press statement: those who have served for six (6) consecutive years or more on the board leadership are ineligible for re-nomination for positions.

6. Condemnation of Violence: We strongly condemn the violent shutdowns of Smile FM. The use of force in resolving governance issues is unacceptable and counterproductive.

Distinguished members of the press, our fellow citizens, the Civil Society of Grand Gedeh remains committed to safeguarding democratic principles, press freedom, and community participation in public life. We urge all actors to engage lawfully and respectfully for the collective good of the county and its institutions.

LDEA Takes Custody of Two Drug Suspects in Webbo, Southeast Liberia.

Webbo- River Gee County, May 6, 2025 – The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) took into custody two Liberian nationals, identified as Patience Nagbeh (22) and Haja Tuore (48), following their official turnover by the Webbo Magistrate Court on May 1, 2025.

The case unfolded after the Liberia National Police (LNP) Webbo detail presented both suspects to the court over a reported debt of LRD 20,000. During the hearing, Patience Nagbeh admitted the amount was tied to an illegal drug transaction, stating that Haja Tuore had given her he**in to sell. She failed to sell all the drugs, the court, upon the magistrate’s instruction, ordered Patience to return the remaining substances.

Upon receiving these substances, the magistrate immediately contacted the LDEA and turned both suspects over for further investigation.

During which time it was uncovered that suspect Haja had allegedly given suspect Patience 80 wraps of he**in with an estimated street value of LRD 20,000.

Further findings revealed that suspect Haja Tuore has a history of drug-related encounters with the LDEA in River Gee County (2023) and Maryland County (2024).

Both suspects have been formally charged under Sections 14.85 and 14.89 of the Controlled Substances Act for unlicensed sale and possession of narcotics. They were forwarded to court for prosecution on May 5, 2025.

The LDEA remains committed to combating illegal drug activity and calls on the public to support this effort by reporting any drug-related information to the LDEA Hotline at 0777133333. All reports will be treated with the utmost confidentiality.

JUSTICE MINISTRY WARNS : PROTEST/MARCH WITHOUT PERMIT IS ILLEGAL- PERPETRATORS WILL BE PROSECUTED

On May 1, 2025, several persons displaying the Liberian flag and a banner showing a photograph of Captain Ibrahim Toure, Military Leader of Burkina Faso, took to the streets of Monrovia where ,they apparently marched in solidarity with the Leader from that African Country for reasons best known to them, obstructing and disrupting the normal course of business in that area.

The Ministry of Justice wishes to inform the public that it did not sanction this march. The Ministry of Justice is the statutory authority responsible to grant permits to all Liberians wishing to protest or march in solidarity for causes they believe in.

While it is the constitutional right of all Liberians to peacefully protest, the stakeholders of any protest must first get permission from the Ministry of Justice through a written permit. This permit will enable law enforcement to protect protesters , guide their movement and prevent unnecessary traffic which is likely to obstruct the work of other citizens, the government and private businesses.

The Ministry of Justice condemns this unauthorized solidarity march and all other protests or marches that do not adhere to the processes under which such activities are held!

Protest or marches where permits are not sought from the Ministry of Justice will be considered hostile and a blatant disregard for the rule of Law.

Let this serve as a warning to the stakeholders of all future protest or marches and note that perpetrators when caught will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Modern University College Set to Open in Karnplay City..

Karnplay City, Nimba County – April 29, 2025 – In a move aimed at decentralizing tertiary education in Liberia, the Monrovia-based Modern University College has announced plans to extend its academic programs to Karnplay City, Nimba County.

Speaking to residents and prospective students, County Coordinator Rev. Abieso Gono expressed his enthusiasm about bringing higher education closer to home.

“I am truly happy to bring this kind of opportunity to my own people. It is a privilege that the young people of this part of Nimba should embrace and take full ownership of,” Rev. Gono said.

Rev. Gono further encouraged senior high school students in Karnplay and surrounding communities to take advantage of what he called a “golden opportunity” for academic and professional advancement.

In response to the announcement, several prospective students described the university’s presence in Karnplay as a major step forward for those unable to afford higher education in larger cities. They called on other high school graduates struggling to access university education in Sanniquellie, Ganta, Monrovia, and elsewhere to enroll when classes commence in May 2025.

The university’s administration has also revealed plans to introduce a range of vocational and technical training programs including TVET, driving, carpentry, and others at the Karnplay campus.

The National Patriotic Party (NPP) strongly distances itself from the recent actions of Atty. George S. Mulbah, who falsely claimed to represent the leadership of the Party by pledging support to Representative Samuel Kogar in the upcoming Nimba County by-election.

We wish to categorically state that Atty. George Mulbah is not the National Chairman of the National Patriotic Party. His endorsement of Representative Kogar was done in no official capacity and does not reflect the position of the Party.

The NPP remains a proud opposition institution and maintains its ideological independence and commitment to democratic principles.

The Party firmly stands with Madam Edith Gongloe-Weh, a reputable and experienced daughter of Nimba, whose values align with the vision and aspirations of the NPP.

NIMBA [April 9, 2025]–The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) Nimba County Detachment has successfully arrested two individuals involved in the cultivation of ma*****na, following a raid in the Tappita Forest.

On April 9, 2025, after receiving credible intelligence, the LDEA Tappita Detail Commander led an operation with his team to investigate allegations of ma*****na farming in the area. Upon arrival, they discovered an active ma*****na plantation on a one-lot plot of land. Officers swiftly cut down the plants and arrested two suspects.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Mark Gaye, 36, a resident of Tappita’s Power Station, and Emmanuel Mark, 30, a resident of Tappita City. Both are confirmed to be ma*****na farmers.

During the raid, law enforcement seized 13 kilograms of ma*****na, valued at approximately USD $1,300 or LRD 247,000. The suspects are currently under investigation at the LDEA Headquarters in Tappita, awaiting trial.

The LDEA continues its commitment to eradicating illegal drug cultivation and urges the public to report any suspicious drug-related activities in their communities.
