📢 We’re thrilled to share that LUCT CyberSquad was at Lancer’s Gap High School!

Science Day, and the cyber awareness session was a success 🙌

Small team, big impact. The students and teachers were locked in, asked smart questions, and left with real skills to protect themselves online.

🔐 What We Covered:
1️⃣ Facebook Account Hacks – Live Demo
Since most students use Facebook, we showed how attackers clone login pages to steal accounts. Then we covered 2FA, strong passwords, and how to spot fakes.

2️⃣ Find My Device – Full Power
Live demo on how to locate, lock, and erase your phone/laptop if lost or stolen. Every student needs this turned on.

3️⃣ QR Code & Link Attacks
Interactive discussion on malicious QR codes and links. Tips: preview URLs, think before you scan, skip “scan to win” traps.

4️⃣ Child Online Protection
We focused on oversharing and privacy settings. What _not_ to post, and how to lock down your profile.

5️⃣ Misuse of AI
Why you should never feed AI tools your photos, ID numbers, passwords, or personal credentials. Once it’s in, you can’t take it back.

💡 Why This Mattered:
Science Day proved that cybersecurity _is_ science — critical thinking, problem-solving, and protecting your digital life.

🙏 Thank You:
To Lancer’s Gap High School for the invite.
And to _all_ CyberSquad members who supported, plus those who wanted to come but couldn’t due to final exams — we see you and appreciate every effort. Let’s keep working together 💪

🇱🇸 Happy Moshoeshoe’s Day! 🇱🇸

Today we celebrate the life and legacy of King Moshoeshoe I — the visionary leader who united the Basotho nation and laid the strong foundations of the Kingdom of Lesotho. His wisdom, diplomacy, and leadership continue to inspire generations.

As we honor this important day, CyberSquad reminds every Mosotho to stay safe not only physically, but digitally too.

⚠️ Hackers love holidays — when people are relaxed, distracted, and more vulnerable online. Cybercriminals take advantage of this time to:
• Steal personal information
• Send phishing messages
• Hack accounts and systems
• Commit online fraud

🔐 Stay Cyber Ready:
✅ Avoid clicking suspicious links
✅ Do not share passwords or OTP codes
✅ Verify messages before responding
✅ Keep your devices updated and secured

Let us celebrate responsibly while protecting our digital lives.

CyberSquad wishes every Mosotho a safe and happy Moshoeshoe’s Day!

🇧🇼 CyberSquad Botswana Study Tour – March 2026

In October 2025, LUCT CyberSquad proudly began preparations for an important Cybersecurity Educational Trip to Botswana — a country recognized for its progressive approach to cybersecurity and digital resilience.

The trip was initially scheduled for January 2026, but due to financial constraints (as a student-led initiative), we’ve rescheduled it for March 2026.

🔐 Purpose of the Trip:
- To visit top cybersecurity institutions like MCS Security Solutions, Botswana’s Ministry of Cybersecurity, and other leading companies in the industry.
- To gain real-world insights into advanced cybersecurity infrastructure.
- To strengthen our own capacity as Lesotho’s growing cyber defense youth community.

This week-long tour is a key step in building our experience and knowledge — not just for ourselves, but for the benefit of our country.

🤝 Call for Support:
We are open to partnerships, sponsorships, or any form of support from organizations, companies, or individuals who believe in the power of youth in cybersecurity.

Help us build a cyber-secure Lesotho, one step at a time.

📢 CyberSquad Stands Ready to Defend Lesotho's Cyberspace 🇱🇸💻

We are inspired by the recent statement from the Principal Secretary of MICSTI, Mr. Kanono Ramashamole, urging the Lesotho Communications Authority (LCA) to safeguard end users from rising cyber threats, especially in the face of growing challenges in AI and digital transformation.

As LUCT CyberSquad, we believe this is the time for action — and we are more than ready to stand side by side with our government and LCA in building a resilient cybersecurity sector for Lesotho.

We applaud the decision to learn from Botswana’s best practices — something we ourselves had already planned to do with our upcoming CyberSquad Study Tour to Botswana in March 2026. This is a confirmation that we are walking the right path as a youth-driven cybersecurity community committed to national digital safety.

Let it be known: Cyber defense is no longer optional. As youth in tech, we are ready to collaborate, support, and protect our nation in the digital battlefield.

🛡️ Cybersecurity is our responsibility too.
📲 *Government + LCA + Youth = Cybersecure Lesotho

🎄 KHOTSO, P**A, NALA, BASOTHO! 🇱🇸

As we celebrate the birth of Christ and enjoy the festive holidays with our families, the LUCT CyberSquad wants to ensure your celebrations remain joyful and secure.

While we are busy shopping and sharing love, hackers and scammers are also busy looking for their next target. Don’t let a cyber-criminal ruin your Christmas! 🛡️💻

⚠️ WATCH OUT FOR THESE FESTIVE DANGERS:

Smishing & Phishing: Beware of strange SMS or emails claiming you’ve won prizes or asking you to "verify" your bank account.

Account Hijacking: Scammers want your social media and WhatsApp accounts to trick your friends and family.

Fake Online Shops: If the price is too good to be true, it’s probably a scam!

ATM & Card Fraud: Be vigilant when withdrawing your festive cash.

✅ STAY SAFE WITH THESE TIPS:

Never share your PIN or OTP with anyone—not even someone claiming to be from your bank.

Use Strong Passwords and enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) on WhatsApp and Facebook.

Think Before You Click: Verify links before entering any personal information.

Secure your Wi-Fi: Avoid using public Wi-Fi for banking or sensitive transactions.

Let’s keep Lesotho cyber-safe this December. Share this post with your loved ones to protect them!

Happy Christmas to all Basotho! 🎄✨

🙌 Maseru Safety Alert: CyberSquad's Festive Season Warning! 🚨

This festive season, if you're looking to buy a second-hand laptop or phone, we need to be extra vigilant to avoid buying stolen goods and getting into serious trouble.
⚠️ The Red Flags

NO BOX, NO RECEIPT: This is a major sign that the seller might not be the rightful owner.

✅ CyberSquad's Mandatory Safety Steps

Stop the Transaction: If the seller has no box and no original receipt, do not buy it immediately.

Go to the Police: Insist on going to the nearest police station in Maseru.

Complete the Purchase at the Station: Make all buying, payment, and handover processes be carried out at the police station. This serves two critical purposes:

The police can help verify the item's status (e.g., check the IMEI/Serial number against crime reports).

It creates an official, documented record of your purchase, protecting you if the item is later found to be stolen.

Refusal is a No-Go: IF THE SELLER REFUSES TO GO TO THE POLICE STATION, DO NOT BUY THE ITEM. Walk away immediately. Their refusal is a strong indication that the item is likely stolen.

Buying a stolen item, even unknowingly, can put you in serious legal trouble.

Stay safe, Maseru! Don't let a good deal turn into a legal nightmare this holiday.
