**If your company isn’t growing, do the math on your career.**
There are only two ways a flat company pays off.
One, you grow inside it. You get promoted. It feels like progress, and it is, but there’s a ceiling, and in a company that isn’t growing it sits lower than you think.
Two, the company itself takes off. Plenty of the fastest-growing firms crawled for years before they caught fire. So the real question is whether yours ever will- and whether there’s a structural reason it should. Sit with that honestly. If the answer is no, waiting won’t change it.
And a flat company carries downstream effects most people never price in.
Say you do well. You get promoted, maybe you land a C-level seat. At some point you’ll still want to move. And the moment you do, someone reads the title - then looks at the company behind it, and the numbers don’t move.
That reads two ways. That you couldn’t materially move the thing you were hired to move.
And that you were never exposed to the hardest problems a company faces — the ones that only come with growth, and the ones that matter most right now.
Stay on a slow ship at your own risk. When you can choose, choose the ones already moving fast.
