It's a great feeling coming home from East Doc Forum with the DOK Leipzig Co-Pro Award for a documentary project TWO OF US (LT title: MUDU) by Jurate Samulionyte and Rūta Dambravaitė. It's one of those moments where you get a real energy boost at the exact right moment in the development process.🤩

However, aside from the prize, the thing that we’ll take away from the entire East Doc Platform experience is the people. To all the people we met along the way: thanks for the advice, the kind words, and the genuine enthusiasm for the story we want to tell.

Can’t wait to see how these new friendships and ideas will help bring this film to life. Onwards! 🌄

We have very special news to announce! Our upcoming animated feature film “Siberian Haiku” (Lithuanian title: SIBIRO HAIKU), a project we deeply believe in and have been developing for years, has received its first production support from Lietuvos kino centras!

The project was initiated by producer Dagnė Vildžiūnaitė, who discovered the remarkable and beautiful book “Siberian Haiku” by Lithuanian authors Jurga Vile and Lina Itagaki (published by Aukso žuvys) on the very first day it was presented to the public. Already then, she understood that it was a special story that would touch many hearts - though she could not have expected how widely it would travel.

The book has received numerous important awards both nationally and internationally, including Best Book for a Young Audience at the German Youth Literature Awards 2021. It has now been translated into more than 15 languages and published worldwide, from the UK to Japan.

But the most meaningful recognition comes from children who continue reading the book and asking whether there will be a film.

It’s coming! The film will be directed by the talented Sylwia Szkiladz, based on a script written by Christelle Berthevas and Jurga Vilė.

From the very beginning, the project has been developed together with French producer Jean-François Le Corre (Vivement Lundi), with the shared goal of creating a story that resonates with children and families around the world.

Early in the process, co-producers Géraldine Sprimont and Anne-Laure Guégan (Need Prod) also joined the team.

The journey to production is a long one, and we are deeply grateful for the important support we have received during the development process from Lietuvos kino centras, Creative Europe, and Bretagne Cinéma.

Dalinamės svarbia žinia - Lietuvos kino centras skyrė finansavimą Jūratės Samulionytės ir Rūtos Dambravaitės dokumentinio kino projekto „Mudu” vystymui.

„Mudu” tęsia pasakojimą apie Vitalių ir Albiną, kuriuos pažinome iš daugelį mūsų sujaudinusios Ingos Janiulytės-Temporin ir Rūtos Dambravaitės radijo dokumentikos „Atsivėrimas”.

Poros meilė truko 54 metus. Šių metų pradžioje netekome Albino. Tačiau jų nepaprastas ryšys tęsiasi Vitaliaus atmintyje ir mūsų kuriamame dokumentiniame filme.

Tai intymus ir stiprus žvilgsnis į Lietuvos moterų ledo ritulio komandą. Kol visas pasaulis ruošiasi žiemos olimpinių žaidynių spindesiui, šios moterys kasdien įrodinėja, kad aistra sportui yra stipresnė už bet kokius stereotipus ar sunkumus.

Neslėpsime - 2025-ieji mums, kaip ir daugeliui, buvo kupini nerimo ir rūpesčio ateitimi, pasauliu bei vieni kitais. Mintimis buvome ir esame su tais, kurie patiria prievartą, smurtą ir laisvių suvaržymus.

Tačiau būtent šiuo laikotarpiu, kaip niekada anksčiau, išryškėjo tarpusavio ryšių, bendrystės, kūrybinės veiklos ir džiaugsmo kasdienėmis pergalėmis svarba.

Išlydime šiuos metus su dėkingumu. Ačiū visiems, su kuriais kartu jais keliavome.

2025 wasn’t easy - and we know we weren’t alone in feeling that way. For so many of us, it was a year filled with worry about the future, the world, and one another. Our thoughts were - and remain, with those facing violence, oppression, and the restriction of freedoms.

Yet it was precisely during this time, more than ever before, when the importance of connection, togetherness, creativity, and joy in everyday wins became clear.
