This moment brings us one step closer to making an important film happen.

We’re incredibly happy to share that Lietuvos kino centras has confirmed production support for ANTONIVKA, the new feature film by Kateryna Gornostai.

We’re deeply grateful for this support. This has been, and continues to be, one of those journeys where every step truly matters. It has also made it possible for more Lithuanian talents to join the project.

ANTONIVKA is co-produced by:
Vika Khomenko, Moon Man (Ukraine)
Dagnė Vildžiūnaitė, Just a moment (Lithuania)
Yohann Cornu, Damned Films (France)

The project has previously received support from the European Solidarity Fund for Ukrainian Films (ESFUF), ARTE France Cinéma (ARTE), Creative Europe MEDIA (Creative Europe), the Ukrainian Film Academy’s Script Development Grant Program, and received the TorinoFilmLab Production and Green Filming Awards, and ArteKino International Award.

Just a few more applications between us and production. We can’t wait.

The story of ANTONIVKA is set in the future, postwar Ukraine. A young couple, Aurora and Darko, move to the house of her grandfather, who survived the village occupation alone and just had a mild stroke. New life begins, but death is still present.

We’re happy to announce that our latest project, THE BEES (BITĖS), a feature film by Urtė Sabutytė and Danielė Kunčinaitė, has received script writing funding from the Lietuvos kino centras.

The project’s journey began during the KIMO Nacionalinė kino mokykla LMTA Master’s programme, when Danielė conducted artistic research and invited director Urtė to develop the project together. The film might have remained on the shelf if not for the encouragement and support of the research supervisors, Laurynas Bareiša, Monika Gimbutaitė, Egle Vertelyte, and Julija Fomina.

The story of Jūratė Dineikaitė and Lithuania’s first all-female rock band is moving from the pages of rock history to the pages of a screenplay. Huge thanks to Jūratė and her family for their trust and her enduring sense of adventure!

Let’s rock!👏

It's a great feeling coming home from East Doc Forum with the DOK Leipzig Co-Pro Award for a documentary project TWO OF US (LT title: MUDU) by Jurate Samulionyte and Rūta Dambravaitė. It's one of those moments where you get a real energy boost at the exact right moment in the development process.🤩

However, aside from the prize, the thing that we’ll take away from the entire East Doc Platform experience is the people. To all the people we met along the way: thanks for the advice, the kind words, and the genuine enthusiasm for the story we want to tell.

Can’t wait to see how these new friendships and ideas will help bring this film to life. Onwards! 🌄

We have very special news to announce! Our upcoming animated feature film “Siberian Haiku” (Lithuanian title: SIBIRO HAIKU), a project we deeply believe in and have been developing for years, has received its first production support from Lietuvos kino centras!

The project was initiated by producer Dagnė Vildžiūnaitė, who discovered the remarkable and beautiful book “Siberian Haiku” by Lithuanian authors Jurga Vile and Lina Itagaki (published by Aukso žuvys) on the very first day it was presented to the public. Already then, she understood that it was a special story that would touch many hearts - though she could not have expected how widely it would travel.

The book has received numerous important awards both nationally and internationally, including Best Book for a Young Audience at the German Youth Literature Awards 2021. It has now been translated into more than 15 languages and published worldwide, from the UK to Japan.

But the most meaningful recognition comes from children who continue reading the book and asking whether there will be a film.

It’s coming! The film will be directed by the talented Sylwia Szkiladz, based on a script written by Christelle Berthevas and Jurga Vilė.

From the very beginning, the project has been developed together with French producer Jean-François Le Corre (Vivement Lundi), with the shared goal of creating a story that resonates with children and families around the world.

Early in the process, co-producers Géraldine Sprimont and Anne-Laure Guégan (Need Prod) also joined the team.

The journey to production is a long one, and we are deeply grateful for the important support we have received during the development process from Lietuvos kino centras, Creative Europe, and Bretagne Cinéma.

Jau šį sekmadienį (03.15) galėsite išvysti dokumentinį filmą KANTRI VISAGINE namų ekranuose per LRT, 21:55 val.

Prieš filmą jūsų laukia pokalbis su filmo režisiere Emilija Petkūnaite, pasiruoškite gilesniam susipažinimui su Visagino kantri dvasia. 🎸

Šilto ir muzikalaus savaitgalio!

Aprašymas: „Kantri Visagine“ pasakoja apie festivalį, gimusį lemtingais 1991-aisiais, kai laisvės troškimas, amerikietiška svajonė ir lietuviška nepriklausomybė susipynė į vieną istoriją. Čia susitinka vyresni idealistai ir nauja karta, ieškanti savo vietos bei bendrystės. O muzikos ritmai tampa laisvės, bendruomenės ir tapatybės paieškų simboliu. Ar šiandien festivalis vis dar gali vienyti ir įkvėpti naujas kovas už savo vietą pasaulyje?

Projektą finansavo: Lietuvos kino centras, LRT
