Waiter, waiter, one more great showmaker, please! This time, we’re introducing Smilė, the enthusiastic host behind “Leliumoj”.

At its core, “Leliumoj” is a quiet return to our roots. Not nostalgia for nostalgia’s sake, but a practice of careful listening: of memory, heritage, and stories carried forward in song. The show moves through the seas, lakes, and marshlands of Lithuanian folk voices, tracing lines across regions and generations. It lingers where tradition still breathes, and occasionally steps beyond familiar shores. A modern perspective is never absent here: the old and the new meet naturally, in unexpected pairings, forgotten names, and sounds waiting to be heard again.

The journey is guided by Smilė, whose relationship with folklore began at age seven, surrounded by folk songs, dances, and the first attentive notes of the kanklės. Today she continues that dialogue with tradition as a dancer with the folk ensemble Neris, keeping heritage in motion. At the same time, she is deeply engaged in the alternative music scene, supporting emerging artists as they shape their sound and find their audience. For Smilė, tradition isn’t something preserved behind glass, it’s something lived, questioned, and carried forward.

We’re so back. What a great way to celebrate our Spotlight guests by starting with Monika, the host of “Naktinis Geluonis”!

Monika started out in illustration, but it didn’t take long before sound became the preferred art form. She moved into music production and began building her own vocabulary out of what she’d absorbed early on: the textures and moods of the late 1970s and 1980s, where basslines carried as much meaning as lyrics, and experimentation wasn’t a stylistic choice so much as a necessity. For Monika, music curation isn’t playlisting, it’s research. It’s the slow work of long-term listening, following threads across scenes, labels, and eras, then weaving them into a narrative that makes sense not only emotionally, but historically. The result feels less like selection and more like storytelling.

That approach comes through most clearly in “Naktinis Geluonis,” her show dedicated to the first wave of post-punk and the wider musical landscape orbiting it. It’s a love letter written in angular guitars, bass-driven tension, and restless, experimental edges, moving between the established names and the cult figures who shaped the same moment from the margins. Along the way, Monika adds context and small curiosities that make the period feel close and alive, like a map you can hear being unfolded in real time. And what a great gift she has with this show.

estakada99 is an independent online community radio station based in Vilnius, launched in June 2025. It’s a space rooted in freedom, non-exclusivity, experimentation, and community building. We currently host 50+ showmakers and are looking to grow.

We’re inviting both professionals and first-timers to explore and gain experience in radio and sound practices.

Shows can be:
• Pre-recorded, live, or playlist-based
• Music selections, DJ mixes, or original music
• Talk shows, podcasts, interviews, or discussions
• In Lithuanian or English
• About music, politics, culture, technology, comedy, everyday life, or anything else!

If you want to experiment, test ideas, learn, or simply have a space to do your thing, estakada99 is for you.

It wouldn’t be a Sunday without another spotlight - meet Rusnė, the host behind "Po radaru“.

“Po radaru” is a monthly dive into the underground of Lithuania’s alternative scene, where conversations unfold in a tiny studio with just two microphones and no filter. Here, Rusnė, still in school herself, sits down with bands and artists you’ve likely never heard of, bringing their stories, raw thoughts, and music into the spotlight. You never quite know what will come up: anything from personal journeys of self‑discovery to fifteen unexpected Joe Rogan shout‑outs. Each episode features the artist’s music, following a discussion, unfolding new layers that let familiar songs sound entirely different.

Beyond the mic, Rusnė has long been immersed in music; she sings and plays bass in the band Kodama, and sometimes switches roles, picking up a camera instead. She is closely connected to a community of young, exciting musicians who deserve far more attention than they receive, and this is precisely what sparked the idea for the show: not professionalism, but a deep desire to share the richness of Lithuania’s alternative scene.

Another week, another introduction – meet Urtė, the face & voice behind "Be vietos".

"Be vietos" is a weekly journey for those who sometimes feel alone, even in a crowd, and are searching for a place where they truly belong. In this intimate refuge, Urtė shares her favorite music from all corners of the world alongside gems from Lithuania’s flourishing music scene, creating a safe space for thoughts, feelings, and the soul. The show’s name reflects the special place that music builds for us; when we feel like strangers on this earth, we turn to melodies that understand us.

By the way, Urtė is one of the youngest creators at estakada99, yet her musical taste and emotional sensitivity shine through every episode. She believes it’s just as important to know what’s happening in your home country’s music scene as it is to follow what’s trending abroad, and with Lithuanian music now in a golden age, there’s something for everyone to discover.

Music is just one part of Urtė’s creative world. She plays guitar, channeling her feelings into sound, unafraid to experiment and search for new, unheard tones. Concerts are her other great passion, she attends them often, drawn to the unrepeatable magic of live performance, its atmosphere, and the way it pulls you wholly into the moment.

Urtė invites listeners not only to explore music but to feel it deeply, to find in it a home – wherever they may be.
