Many Filipinos working abroad are often misunderstood.
We are not uneducated. We are not lacking skills. Many of us carry college degrees, professional licenses, certifications, and years of experience we worked hard for.
So why did we leave home?
Not because we wanted to abandon our dreams,
but because we were forced to be practical.
In a country where opportunities are limited and wages often fall short, qualifications alone do not guarantee stability. Talent does not always meet fair compensation. Hard work does not always meet dignity.
Leaving the Philippines is rarely an easy decision. It is a calculated sacrifice choosing distance so our families can have security, choosing loneliness so our loved ones can have a future.
Behind every uniform, job title, or contract abroad is a story:
a graduate,
a licensed professional,
a dreamer who simply refused to give up.
Our work overseas does not measure our intelligence. Our sacrifices measure our courage. Our love for our families explains everything.
Not everyone who leaves home is running away.
Some are carrying entire families on their backs.
We are more than contracts and job titles.
We are people who chose responsibility over comfort and purpose over pride.
