What a big surprise Benidorm has been! A curious mix of city skylines, coastal rides, beaches and mountain valleys. This is how we spent the day:
๐ Stop 1:
We grabbed e-bikes near the Plaza de la Hispanidad and rode along Benidormโs long waterfront. Our favourite spot: the blue-and-white Mirador del Castell for some of the best views in the Mediterranean.
๐ Stop 2:
Next, we rode up a steep hill into the Sierra Helada National Park. The electric bikes made the climb super easy! At the top, it was so peaceful and we could see hidden blue coves below us and Benidorm's famous skyscraper skyline to the west. Now we know why people call it "Beni York"!
๐ Stop 3:
Delicious Local Rice
All that riding made us starving! We stopped at Restaurante Ulia right by the beach for a local dish called arrรฒs a banda. The friendly chef, Ulia, told us it is different from regular paella because the rice is cooked in a rich, flavorful fish stock. It was delicious! We also treated ourselves to a torrija (Spanish French toast) with ice cream for dessert. ๐คค
๐ Stop 4 :
Jeep Safari & Natural Pools
To beat the afternoon food coma, we jumped into a Jeep Safari tour! We drove deep into the Sierra de Aitana mountains and ended our day with a cool, refreshing swim in the natural pools of Les Fonts de lโAlgar.
