Read the story of Bill Curbishley, the man who worked with The Who and Judas Priest. “Bill Curbishley might be one of the greatest artist managers of all time, sure. But he’s also one of the greatest storytellers, with an endless supply of anecdotes from a life in – and love of – music from when he was a mod in 1960s East London up until the present day.”

“Norton hopes that fans will recognize and support the artists they love. “I think the best thing that could happen would be for more people to get out and support live music. Go out and see those touring bands. Buy some merch — buy a T-shirt, buy a CD,” Norton said. “Because that money’s going straight back to them. And they’re on the road and they’re trying to make ends meet. And if you like them, go out and tell everybody — ‘Man I saw this band and they were awesome.’ And get people excited about going out and seeing live music. Another reason to get out there and support those guys and show them your love.”

Yet another amazing opportunity from Reeperbahn Festival! Please see info below!

Call for Delegates: Reeperbahn Festival International @ ACCES, Africa

After visiting Beijing and New York already this year with an amazing group of professionals from all over Europe, we are now collecting applications for our next Reeperbahn Festival International spin-off. This time we invite professionals working from Europe who want to attend Africa's leading music conference, ACCES which takes place in Accra, Ghana from 28 – 30 November 2019 to apply until 11 September 2019.

With support of The German Federal Foreign Office all European Reeperbahn Festival International delegates will receive a travel subsidy of 800 Euro; conference registration and local transport are included as well. Full participation in programme activities organised for the delegation including panels, showcases and curated 1:1 matchmaking sessions with African music industry decision-makers, will be obligatory.

For the third time the Music In Africa Conference For Collaborations, Exchange And Showcases (ACCES) will bring together music industry players from over 50 countries to exchange ideas, discover new talent and create business linkages. Held in a different African city every year, ACCES offers a dynamic programme including music industry talks, keynotes, showcases, networking sessions and exhibitions in the host country.

Representatives of internationally-oriented music companies working from Germany and Europe can now apply to become part of the delegation to Accra. Prerequisite for participation is activity in the recorded, publishing, distribution, booking/live or management fields and concrete interest in the African music market.

The application deadline is 11 September 2019 – let your colleagues and business partners know about this opportunity!
