استمعوا إلى البابا: "كل قارب يصل لا يحمل مهاجرين فحسب، بل يحمل معه سؤالاً: أي عالم بنيناه إذا كان على الكثير من إخواننا وأخواتنا أن يخاطروا بحياتهم بحثاً عن الحياة؟ تتطلب الكرامة الإنسانية مسارات قانونية وآمنة، وعمليات إنقاذ ومساعدة، وتعاوناً ملموساً ضد المتاجرين بالبشر، وحماية فعالة للضحايا، وعمليات استقبال ودمج جادة، وسياسات تُمكّن كل إنسان من العيش بكرامة في وطنه. فبينما يوجد حق في طلب اللجوء عند تهديد الحياة، يوجد أيضاً حق في عدم الاضطرار إلى الهجرة: الحق في البقاء في الوطن دون جوع أو حرب أو اضطهاد أو عنف؛ دون أن تصبح الأرض غير صالحة للسكن؛ دون أن يسرق الفساد لقمة عيش الفقراء؛ دون أن تدمر الأسلحة مستقبل الأطفال. يجب ألا نعتاد على إحصاء الموتى. الكرامة الإنسانية لا جواز سفر لها، ولا تفقد قيمتها عند عبور الحدود. نسأل الله، الذي سيحاسبنا في نهاية حياتنا على أساس محبتنا، أن يمنحنا القدرة على إدراكه اليوم في الفقراء والغريب، وأن يحررنا من النظر إلى معاناة الآخرين على أنها "مع أن الأمر لا يعنينا".

“Every boat that arrives carries not only migrants; it carries with it a question: what kind of world have we built if so many of our brothers and sisters must risk death in order to seek life?
Human dignity requires legal and safe pathways, rescue and assistance, concrete cooperation against traffickers, effective protection for victims, serious reception and integration processes, and policies that allow every person to live with dignity in their own homeland.
While there is a right to seek refuge when life is threatened, there is also a right not to have to migrate: the right to remain in one’s own home without hunger, war, persecution, or violence; without the land becoming uninhabitable; without corruption stealing the bread of the poor; without weapons destroying the future of children.
We must not become accustomed to counting the dead.
Human dignity has no passport, nor does it lose its value when crossing a border.
May God, who at the end of our lives will judge us according to our love, grant us the ability to recognize Him today in the poor and in the stranger, and free us from looking upon the suffering of others as though it did not concern us.” Situation in Libya 21s ゚ #
