A lesson to learn about life
As Alexander the Great lay on his deathbed, surrounded by his generals he gave three final commands.
I have three last wishes fulfill them without fail.
1. Let the best doctors in the land carry my coffin
2. Scatter gold, silver and jewels along the road to my grave
3. Let both of my hands hang outside the coffin open and empty, his generals were puzzled but he explained
“Let the doctor carry my coffin“ to show the world that even the best doctors cannot save you from death not kings, not warriors not even the greatest minds in medicine, when deaths comes no one can stop it.
“Let the road be covered in gold and silver”, to remind people that no matter how much wealth you gain in life, it all stays behind, the gold you fought for, the silver you hoarded, the treasures you conquered none of it will follow you to the grave.
“And let my hands hang outside the coffin”, so the world sees that I came into this life with nothing and I leave with nothing, empty handed I arrived, empty handed I depart , even the greatest king dies with nothing in his hands.
Moral of the story
No matter how powerful, wealthy or respected a person becomes death is the great equalizer, in the end doctors can’t save you, wealth can’t follow you and you will leave this world with nothing so,live a life of meaning, choose humanity over pride and invest in what truly matters because everything else stays behind.
