MUSING ALOUD 12
People…
They matter to God so much. They are the reason He set up the great rescue plan called redemption, for which His Son had to lay down His life (John 3:16).
The work of the ministry in its entirety is about serving God by serving people. The kingdom of God wins on earth each time more people subscribe to it. This is why all of heaven rejoices each time one more person makes up their mind to believe in the Lord Jesus (Luke 15:7).
It’s impossible to do the work of the ministry without people, no matter the enormity of angelic help at a minister’s disposal. Whether you are a closeted intercessor or a conspicuous pulpiteer; people are the reason the Lord is engaging you in His service.
The Lord Jesus began His public ministry by surrounding Himself with people. Some supported Him, others took advantage of Him, one denied Him thrice, and another betrayed Him to His death, yet, He loved them all. At His death, burial and resurrection, He had people with Him. Before He ascended, He passed the baton to people.
Paul, whose apostolic labours yielded the most kingdom thrust had to manage people. He fell out with some, got abandoned by some, while some gave him the much needed support, yet, he kept it moving in love. The people his life and ministry touched were many. But those he could actually rely on to get things done were few. One of them was Mark, whom Paul said was profitable to him for the ministry (2 Timothy 4:11).
In my over thirty years in the ministry, it has been the same…people!
My ministry is equipment-based and I am fully committed to capacity building in the body of Christ. I have had all kinds of experiences with people. The Lord’s mercy is unwavering, He has indeed blessed me with great people, whose hearts are at one with the heavenly vision given to us: to strive for the rebirth of apostolic Christianity in the nations. They give their all to ensure the work of the Lord in our hands is fully executed. One of them is my son, Philip Gbir, who is profitable to me for the ministry.
With love from your brother,
Arome Osayi.
