June 21 marks National Indigenous People’s Day.
❤️🖤🤍💛
Today I took some time for reflection under the Red Embers art installation at Ashbridge’s Bay.
Red Embers pays tribute to Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls.
The installation was erected last year, created by 15 Indigenous female-identifying artists.
The 13 banners of Red Embers symbolize the 13 Grandmother Moons within the Lunar System.
In Indigenous tradition Grandmother Moon governs women and heals those who have suffered sexual assault or domestic violence.

Happy Spring Neighbours!
🌷
It’s been a while since Beach Beat Blog posted but we wanted to share something deliciously important and close to our heart.
Aurora House is an incredible not for profit organization that provides shelter, long-term trauma counselling, basic needs, and essential support services to those who have been trafficked or otherwise exploited in Canada.
Supported by local Toronto United Mennonite Church and , Aurora House opened its doors in 2016 with welcoming support for vulnerable women and children.
Right now there is a huge gap in Canada for housing and support for these women and families. Aurora House is the only organization solely dedicated to serving this demographic of survivors in the GTA.
Support Aurora House today by purchasing a box of delicious treats. just in time for your Easter gatherings.
