Staircase to The Void
In a city where the sky was a concrete canopy, a rat named Remy found himself trapped in a never-ending race up a staircase that led to... nowhere.
Each step, a futile leap towards a goal that shimmered just out of reach. The other rats, their eyes glazed with desperation, clawed and bit to ascend, their tiny paws slipping on the worn stone.
Remy, though weary, refused to join the madness. He looked down, saw the abyss yawning below, and felt a strange peace. He turned, descended the staircase, and found a hidden door leading to a lush, green meadow.
On this side of the Moon-
a spotless white is dominant, a snowy vastness that smothers sounds. Yet there is no blizzard here, just the infinite gentleness of downy hills, plump as bonnets, in a world muffled by its thick woolly jumper".
There, Remy lived a simple, content life, free from the rat race that had consumed so many.
