Pre-release, playable preview test of Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory Survival & Zombies is now available! 🫡

As promised, the pre-release, playable preview test of Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory Survival & Zombies, announced exactly one month ago today, is now available, and exclusive to Steam's Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory Single-Player, as well as its Vanilla Plus Edition version! 🫡

As explained in our last status report, this open beta is different from the early-access, ongoing closed one (which is only available to supporters), as it is powered by RealRTCW 5.1 instead of the upcoming 5.2 version, translating in a divergence of features between both builds. It's because the later is still in development, and not intended for large pools of players just yet. ⚠️

Additional features to expect when RealRTCW 5.2 goes public:
• Game start and wave "intermission" audio.
• Rechargeable Dynamite for the Engineer class.
• Proto-Soldiers in Survival mode.
• Flame Zombies and Priests in Zombies mode.
• Wave-based, progressive enemy skin change in Zombies mode.
• Wave-based enemy HP, Speed, and Skills scaling.
• Weapon Upgrading system.

Additional features to expect when Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory Survival & Zombies is released:
• Allied voiceover.
• Marianna Blavatsky in Zombies mode.
• Steam achievements.

Dark Matter Productions has officially been around for 12 years, today, coinciding with National Day in France! That's how long Gray Matter Studios, Return to Castle Wolfenstein's developer, existed, as it was established in 1993, and closed in 2005. And exactly 20 years later, we keep marching in their footsteps, solidifying their legacy. Founded under a different name in 2013, our modding effort has since witnessed and participated in keeping the flame of the game we all love alive, and this is all thanks to your continued and unconditional support through all these years! So, thank you very much, WolfPlayers! 🫶

Return to Castle Wolfenstein will be celebrating its 24th anniversary later this year, meaning we've already been around for over half of the time passed since its release. Needless to say, an impressive milestone has been reached, as we continue moving forward towards exciting new projects! 80 years ago, World War II ended in Europe. And while we celebrate, commemorate and pay tribute, today also marks 5 years since the Dark Matter Productions rebrand, which preceded the release of RealRTCW on Steam... and the opening of the game's Workshop – two events that changed everything in the RTCW modding scene! And almost half of a decade later, The Dark Army: Uprising Remastered and Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory Single-Player still are the most-downloaded and highest-rated Return to Castle Wolfenstein mods available, exceeding all of my expectations!
