Have you created your agenda for this year? If not, it's time to develop a master plan on how you will achieve your filmmaking goals for 2024.

Don't let another year pass by without you achieving your filmmaking dreams.

Here are a few KEY elements you need to consider when developing your plan:

💡 Idea - the ability to choose a marketable storyline that is VIABLE, FEASIBLE, and DESIRABLE to produce.

👁️ Envision - the ability to imagine the possibilities of success with well-thought-out business strategies.

🎥 Create - the ability to bring written word to life.

📝 Deliver - The ability to envision and manage conceptual projects successfully from beginning to end by consistently delivering project commitments on time, on budget, and with high quality.

Now use these four elements to identify, imagine, and determine how you can execute this year. After that, create a plan of execution.

Want to be a Line Producer? Here are just a few of the duties of the position. ⠀

The Line Producer is one of the first people to be employed on a film's production by the Producer and Executive Producers. They are in charge of all the business aspects of the production of films. ⠀

You can usually progress to the role of Line Producer by working your way through a variety of roles in assistant direction, production coordinator, production manager and/or the production office. Many start their careers as Runners or Production Assistants.

For more information about the Line Producer role, visit the Job Profile section on Diversity in Cinema Academy's website.

⚠️Don't get caught slipping!

You never know when something is going to go wrong. The whole purpose of insurance and worker's compensation is to protect your film production and the talent involved.

You may have every intention of doing everything right in your movie production. However, you can't control outside forces.

So, let me tell you a little story... 🗣️

There was a production company shooting a film one night. Then, from out of nowhere, a drunk driver crashed on the set and pummeled two people. 🍺🚚

Serious injuries were incurred. Now, guess what❓

If you guessed that they didn't have worker's compensation insurance, you would be RIGHT!

👉🏽You, as the producer, are responsible for everyone's safety who's working on your production and protecting the investor's interest.

If you lose personnel or equipment + lose days or weeks on a shoot, you're increasing the budget substantially.

Which means... Most low-budget indie film productions would have to close up shop.

MONEY LOST! 💸

Don't let that be you.

By the way, the unions will not let you hire talent and crew without having insurance and worker's compensation.

🎯 If you're serious about taking your film career to the next level, check out my online course "Leveling Up Your Film Business." This online program includes a fillable workbook that provides the ROADMAP to launching your filmmaking career.

(READ👇) In light of the recent events where actor Alec Baldwin has been indicted on manslaughter charges for fatally shooting the Director of Photography, Halyna Hutchins— I think it's no time like the present to talk about weapon safety on a movie set.

👉If you plan to shoot a movie that includes weapons, I highly recommend using rubberized guns that look realistic. You can add the muzzle flash later in post-production with visual effects.

👉However, if you insist on using guns that require blank ammunition, just know that YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE for the safety of everyone on the set.

I provided a shortlist of safety protocols, but be sure to check union rules pertaining to the safety of the cast & crew.

🎯 Visit Diversity in Cinema Academy's resource page FOR FILMMAKERS to find information for the different unions.
