“The ying and yang of my traditional style with Isabel’s maximalist approach yielded the perfect balance of polish and personality,” says Lexington homeowner Christa Marrillia. Ladd breathed new life into antique lyre-back chairs by painting them a cool blue hue and draping a colorful block-print tablecloth over the antique wood table.

The living area layout of this Maryland home is purposely divided into zones to make it feel larger and to provide dedicated spots to read, socialize, and watch TV while still being connected. Matching sofas, comingled with Scandinavian and American pieces, create a cohesiveness among the spaces, including in the central living room.

Outside of the Blue Ridge Mountain project from our July/August issue, the quaint guest cottage is like a jewel box, says Beregovski. “The design was inspired by the homeowner's love of Anne of Green Gables.” The shiplap walls are painted a blush pink with a small tongue-and-grove accent ceiling in white.

This guest bathroom of this Blue Ridge Mountain home was gutted to the studs, allowing Beregovski to install cottage-inspired finishes in pinks and blues that complement the adjacent guest bedroom. “We went all out with punches of color and femininity here and in the bedroom,” says the designer.
