Reproductive Justice (RJ) is a term that many believe is synonymous with abortion rights. While the right to choose how you will handle a pregnancy is part of RJ, it’s not the totality of the movement. That’s what the L.A.-based nonprofit organization Black Women For Wellness emphasized during its recent Reproductive Justice Conference. One thing we can do is read about our history to find out how previous generations achieved significant milestones and advanced the community, without the abundance of resources we have now. Los Angeles Author Dr. Randal Henry's book Black Firsts of L.A. is a great read and sheds light on the contributions of Black people in Southern California from 200 years ago until today. Here's an interview I did with Dr. Henry.
