Enjoy ❤️👇
Ingredients
→ For the Cake
1 cup boiling water
4 oz German sweet chocolate, chopped
½ cup oil
½ cup sour cream (or buttermilk)
1¾ cups granulated sugar
4 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
2¼ cups all-purpose flour
2 Tbsp cocoa powder
1 tsp baking powder
½ tsp baking soda
¼ tsp salt
→ For the Topping
3 egg yolks
1 cup evaporated milk
1½ cups packed brown sugar
¼ cup butter
1 tsp vanilla extract
2½ cups sweetened shredded coconut
1½ cups chopped pecans
How to Make
Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F) and grease a 9x13-inch baking pan.
Pour boiling water over the chopped German chocolate in a bowl. Stir until melted and smooth. Let cool slightly.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together oil, sour cream, sugar, eggs, and vanilla. Add the melted chocolate mixture and stir until combined.
In another bowl, whisk flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet, mixing until smooth.
Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
For the topping, whisk egg yolks, evaporated milk, and brown sugar in a saucepan. Add butter and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened (about 10 minutes).
Remove from heat and stir in vanilla, coconut, and pecans.
Spread the warm topping over the cooled cake.
Moist, chocolatey, and topped with a rich coconut-pecan layer—this German chocolate sheet cake is a classic indulgence worth every bite!
