Marie Curie (1867–1934) was one of the most influential scientists in history and a pioneer in the study of Radioactivity. She was born in Warsaw and later moved to Paris to continue her studies at the University of Paris. 📚
Marie Curie worked closely with her husband Pierre Curie to investigate radioactive substances. Together they discovered two new chemical elements: Polonium (named after her homeland Poland) and Radium. ⚛️
Her research earned her major recognition. In 1903, she and Pierre Curie shared the Nobel Prize in Physics with Henri Becquerel for their work on radiation. Later, in 1911, Marie Curie won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for discovering radium and polonium and isolating radioactive elements. 🏆
She became the first woman to win a Nobel Prize and the first person ever to win Nobel Prizes in two different scientific fields. During World War I, she also helped develop mobile X-ray units to treat wounded soldiers. 🚑
Unfortunately, years of exposure to radiation affected her health, and she died in 1934 from Aplastic anemia. Despite this, her discoveries transformed medicine, physics, and cancer treatment, and her legacy continues to inspire scientists around the world. 🌍✨
