Official Rebuttal to Senator Samuel Gongben Kogar and His Political Advisor
In the midst of recent political developments and controversial demands issued by Senator Kogar and his so-called political advisor, Armstrong Gobac Selekpoh, we feel compelled to make our position clear.
Let it be known that no amount of threats or political grandstanding will intimidate or coerce the Vice President into submission. This is not the time for power-hungry maneuvers, selfish ambitions, or dictatorial posturing. The Vice President is a national leader — not a county figurehead. He serves all Liberians, not just the people of Nimba County.
To Senator Kogar:
We urge you to act with integrity, humility, and national interest. Your comparison of yourself to the late Senator Prince Y. Johnson is misplaced and deeply flawed. Senator Johnson, despite his controversies, was widely viewed as a political force who earned his place through time, sacrifice, and service. You are not entitled to inherit his legacy by demand or decree.
Let us address your so-called "non-negotiable" demands:
• Leadership is earned, not handed over. No credible political organization will allow itself to be taken hostage by ultimatums.
• You cannot dictate appointments or demand public funds as if they were personal entitlements. $100K here, $75K there this is not how responsible leadership operates.
• The call for vehicles, cash, and appointment slots exposes the transactional nature of your politics, which the people of Nimba and Liberia at large are beginning to reject.
• Using the name of Nimba to advance personal agendas is unacceptable. The people of Nimba deserve representation that prioritizes their development, not personal elevation.
We, the youth and future leaders of Nimba, represented by myself, Roger G. Gbahn Jr., and many others, call on all citizens to remain calm. The Vice President is focused on supporting the President’s national agenda not on making backroom deals or appeasing political egos.
Let us rise above personal politics and work together for a better Nimba and a better Liberia.
