For its second edition, the Paris-based collective Moments for Lebanon returns with an ambitious artwork sale in support of emergency aid efforts in Lebanon. In partnership with Art for Beirut, a non-profit auction house, Hayati Diaries, and with the backing of the Barjeel Art Foundation, the initiative brings together some 90 artists from across geographies, who produced over 300 works on view and for sale at Galerie au Roi in Paris from the 5th of June to the 7th of June.

The exhibition unfolds around Fragments of Memorabilia, a theme exploring the objects people carry for memory when they cross borders or are displaced from home, material artifacts of identity. Mediums include ceramics, photographs, acrylics, oils, pastels, glass sculptures, amongst mixed media techniques and innovative practices, with prices ranging between €100 and €9000. The programming also includes a concert by independent artists on Saturday at 6PM, and an open poetry reading on Sunday at 4 PM.

The Photo Tanger Festival has announced the winners of the first edition of its photography competition for Moroccan artists aged 18 to 35.

Responding to the theme The Call of the Open Sea, Louisa Ben won first prize for Yelli, followed by Ayoub Essayeb (Behind the Eyes) and Sanae Zaidi (Traverser).

Their works will be exhibited at the Palace of Arts and Culture in Tangier from June 16 to August 31 as part of the festival.

The French-Algerian artist Kader Attia will curate the next edition of the Kochi-Muziris Biennale, opening in December 2027.

For the first time in more than twenty years, the Bank Al-Maghrib Museum, a cornerstone of Rabat’s institutional cultural landscape, will close its doors until summer 2027. The closure marks the beginning of an ambitious renovation project aimed at turning BAM into “a 3.0 museum (…) more inclusive, more innovative, more educational and more vibrant,” in the words of Samia Daoudi.

Among the announced developments are redesigned visitor routes, improved accessibility for people with disabilities, the opening of a literary café, a stronger integration of digital tools into educational mediation, and the creation of a digital archive of the collection. Daoudi also announced a new acquisition policy intended to address gaps in the museum’s contemporary art holdings. The initiative comes amid the broader cultural revitalisation currently reshaping the Moroccan capital.

The closure, however, will be “neither a parenthesis nor an interruption.” BAM is rolling out a large-scale off-site programme throughout 2026, conceived “as close as possible to Moroccan audiences.” Its exhibition on the history of currency in Morocco will move to Dar Al Kadi in Rabat, where it will remain accessible to the public. An exhibition dedicated to the history of Tangier, from antiquity to the present day, is also planned in the Mediterranean city itself, while a new museum project is taking shape in Fez.

Finally, BAM is partnering with the association ARKANE on a travelling exhibition dedicated to the contemporary African art scene. The collaboration will include an artistic residency focused on the transmission of knowledge from masters such as Togo, Konaté and El Fadi to a younger generation of African artists, with a particular emphasis on digital art, according to Abderrahmane Ouardane, president of the association.

We first discovered the poetic work of Charaf Lahib last January at the American Arts Center with The Red Poppies, Fragments of Memory, curated by Kenza Amrouk, an exhibition exploring family memory and the absence of archives through metaphorical imagery.
Today, Lahib is one of the ten laureates of the The Arab Documentary Photography Program, supported by AFAC, the Prince Claus Fund and the Magnum Foundation.

Living between Casablanca and Kelaa-des-Sraghna, the photographer documents life in Douar Oulad Klib through When the Swallows Pass, a black-and-white series mixing landscapes and humanist portraits.
