*ZOMI AND OUR FUTURE*
_--In Zomi and English_

As God answers our prayers and grants us blessings for our land, opens doors for us, and enables us to make significant progress. We have moved from a stage of development where we were previously behind, and we have now reached a point where we are beginning to walk on the path towards further progress. As we continue along this path of development, I would like to share five steps that I believe we need to take as we move forward.

1. *STEP ONE: LEARNING TO BE GOOD FOLLOWERS*
_“What we need among ourselves is heroes, courageous people.”_

The need for courageous people is essentially the need for good leaders. Along with the need for leaders, however, we also need the ability to be good followers. Therefore, whether in religious matters or worldly affairs, those whom we choose as leaders must be people who are capable of carrying out their responsibilities and following through on their decisions. We have too many people who want to become leaders.

As soon as someone acquires the title of a leader, people from the opposing side try to tear them down. We are very skilled at opposing and undermining leaders. Those who are more educated, more visionary, more thoughtful, and more capable than us should be learned to be followed. Developing good leaders and developing good followers are both essential for progress.

When a church elder has a doctor in his congregation, for example, it can be very difficult for him to accept and make use of the doctor's expertise. He may not be able to manage church finances. He may not be skilled at planning or designing a church building. No individual can know or do everything. This is why the Apostle Paul compared the church to a body with many different parts.

The University where the pastor studied conferred the Doctorate upon him for his theological education, not for financial management. The elder, who was skilled at managing money and planning church buildings, was God given body parts complementing the pastor. Progress comes when we understand our respective places. We must stop tearing each other apart like big and small stones, and instead walk the path of supporting one another, giving encouragement, and valuing each other. This is our future task.

2. *SECOND STEP: NOT EXCLUSIVEISM, BUT INCLUSIVEISM (COLLECTIVENESS)*
Rather than fragmenting in the future, the Zomi people should think more about unity. If we act wisely and unite in political journeys, we will not lag behind others. We will rise from being the tail of others to becoming the head. We look forward to our religious and political leaders guiding us with this truth.

We have many clans, but nowadays we are tracing back to our roots and uniting more and more. I hope that, in the future, our different organisations and groups will move away from division and return to a path of unity, rather than remaining separated simply because we do not share exactly the same beliefs or views.

3. *THIRD STEP: THE LEOPARD LOOKS BACK AT ITS TRACKS *
There is an old saying: *"When a leopard lies down, it looks back at its tracks."* It prepares itself to follow its tracks back to hunt its enemies. The lesson we should learn from the leopard is that as we march forward, we must continually look back and evaluate our past journeys. We must correct what needs fixing, learn from our past failures, and move forward. Acknowledging our mistakes by saying *"I have sinned" or "I am at fault"* is the path to victory. It is the beginning of maturity and progress.

4. "FOURTH STEP: THE DEER CONSIDERS THE RAVINE FOR ITS ESCAPE *
The lesson to learn from the deer is to be deeply thoughtful, farsighted, and broad-minded, meaning we must think for long-term. In our political journey, we need to constantly evaluate where we started, where we stand today, to what extent we have succeeded, and where we have fallen short.

In India, there are people who oppose almost everything that is associated with the government or the ruling establishment. In a democracy, people have the right to oppose things they disagree with. However, simply opposing everything does not necessarily bring any benefit to ourselves. _We do not have to oppose everything that is possible to oppose. We should take a stand where it is necessary and where doing so genuinely serves our interests._

5. *FIFTH STEP: AVOIDING "NUPI GALZAWH" (OVERCONFIDENCE/ARROGANCE OF VICTORY)*
In the old days, our ancestors used the expression "nupi galzawh" _(refers to someone who becomes so boastful after winning a battle that he becomes arrogant and no longer remains humble or cautious.)_ Whether in worldly affairs or religious matters, there will be times when we have greater victories, times when we appear to be losing, times when we succeed, and times when we fail. Even when we are winning, we should not become arrogant; and when we are losing, we should not assume that everything is finished. This is an important principle.

Whenever leadership responsibilities are given to someone, they are given with trust, and they must be fulfilled faithfully. We must carry out our duties while remaining aware that we are not meant to hold them forever. The years 2010–2011 are recorded as a period of massive global political shifts

It was the year 11 world leaders changed. While in power, they thought they would never fall and would never diminish. When they did fall, they became truly pitiful and pathetic. There is a time to win, and a time to lose. There is a time to rise, and a time to fall. Let us not fall into "nupi galzawh."

Zomi people, we still have a long way to go in shaping our future. Let us continue to shape it together. Let us continue to learn together. Let us broaden our vision and look beyond the present. Even the weakest can become one of the strongest in the world. Therefore, our vision must become bigger, our goals must reach farther, and our thinking must become broader and more forward-looking. This is the path we must take as we move towards the future.

Excellent message for everyone. Birth is given by others, your name is given by others, your income is given by others, your respect is given by others, even your first and last bath will be given by others.

After death, your property, your clothes, your precious belongings, and even your most loved possessions will all be taken and shared by others. Your funeral will be arranged by others, your final prayers will be said by others, the grave will be dug by others, and the tears that fall will come from others.

In the end, you will realize that everything you once called yours actually belonged to the people around you. Still, we fight, argue, and carry unnecessary ego, pride, and hatred throughout our short time on earth. We waste our energy trying to prove that we are better, richer, or more powerful than others, forgetting that life itself is temporary and that nothing truly belongs to us.

So, let us learn to live humbly, to love deeply, and to forgive freely. Let us make peace with others and ourselves. Life is too short to carry anger, jealousy, or ego. Live simply, love generously, and leave behind kindness that others will remember long after you are gone."

*DECODING THE ZRA’S TACTICAL AND STRATEGIC APPROACH*

*Have Great Admiration for the ZRA’s Military Capability, Tactical Skills, and Strategic Mindset*

_The ZRA’s military capability, tactical approach, and strategic thinking are notable. Their actions suggest that they do not treat every armed group or every opposing force in the same way._

1. *PDF-Zoland Camps:* _The ZRA has carried out attacks on areas where PDF-Zoland forces are stationed. If the ZRA considered them genuine enemy combatants, there would have been many opportunities to conduct repeated and more aggressive attacks against those positions._

2. *PDA Camps:* _The same pattern can be observed in areas where PDA forces are stationed. If the ZRA viewed them as full-scale enemy forces, there would have been many possible targets for sustained attacks._

3. *ZNA Camps:* _A similar situation exists with ZNA positions. If the ZRA regarded them as genuine enemies, there would have been numerous opportunities to repeatedly target their positions._

The underlying message appears to be that wherever the ZRA operates, it distinguishes between its own people and those it considers genuine enemies. The Zomi statement expresses this idea clearly: *if someone is not regarded as an enemy, the ZRA does not waste even a single bullet against them.*

From a strategic perspective, the ZRA’s approach can be understood as an attempt to apply pressure on an opponent’s strongholds and positions rather than simply seeking widespread confrontation. The objective appears to be to achieve a military effect while limiting unnecessary loss of life and resources.

This approach can be compared metaphorically to smoking a beehive: rather than destroying everything around it, the aim is to drive the bees out and obtain the honey with as little disruption as possible. In military terms, this reflects an emphasis on targeted pressure, strategic positioning, and controlled engagement rather than indiscriminate violence.

One might wonder whether the ZRA developed some of its military thinking by studying other experienced military forces, including Israel. However, from the perspective of those who believe in divine protection, the ultimate source of the ZRA’s strength and protection is God.

*LEARNING FROM THE PAST: THE POLITICAL AWAKENING OF ZOGAM*

_--In English and Zomi_

First, God must come first. Second, it is time for us to become genuinely involved in politics and actively engage in political affairs.

When we read the Old Testament (OT), we can see that politics and governance are mentioned frequently. Because the Zomi have not been sufficiently involved or skilled in politics, we have continued to remain disadvantaged.

If, while serving God, we also become involved in political affairs by working together and engaging constructively in politics, then the Zomis could progress and develop significantly.

But why is that? Have we ever stopped to think about it carefully?

In the past, Aizawl and Tedim held equal importance. Today, even the smallest district in Mizoram is larger and more important than Tedim. The reason is simply because they understood politics and valued it.

For the wellbeing and progress of the Zomis, we should come together and work together. If we do so, the Zomis can rise and move forward with greater strength, progress and bloom like flowers.

27/08/2026

*ZOMI AND LEADERSHIP*

_--In English and Zomi_

*INTRODUCTION*
Being a leader is not something one can do casually; it requires a proper position. One cannot act as a leader without a position, yet not every person who holds a position succeeds. The Zomi people hold positions of leadership in very high regard.

Many often assume that someone in a position possesses all power and authority, sitting comfortably on a chair, commanding the people from that elevated seat.

However, sitting merely on a throne does not make an effective and successful leader; a true leader must also be able to work down on the ground. John C. Maxwell stated that *"position is the lowest level of leadership."* A position is necessary to become a leader, but that position is not a place to exercise arbitrary power. Rather, it is an opportunity to get things done effectively. Once we understand and realize this, we will succeed in whatever leadership role we undertake.

*HOW TO BECOME AN EFFECTIVE LEADER*
When we think about Zomi and leadership, this is a very important subject. This is because, while the Zomi people are known for being good, genuine, and loyal followers, we are a community that genuinely lacks effective and authentic leaders.

A person cannot be called a leader without followers, but having followers does not automatically make someone a trustworthy leader. Good leadership is not about possessing authority; it is about accomplishing things through action. Good and successful leaders are those who have a clear vision and direction and are capable of leading people towards that goal.

It seems the Zomi people have a great desire for the title and role of leadership. Even if we do not fully understand, grasp, or know how to do something, when we are appointed as leaders, we accept it without objection. If we actually knew how to lead properly, that would be wonderful. *However, as much as we desire to be leaders, very few truly step into the actual reality of effective leadership.*

Consequently, no matter how hard we try, we fail to achieve breakthrough or see tangible progress. One of our greatest weaknesses as Zomi is our obsession with the title of leadership. Therefore, to become effective leaders, let us examine several key points below.

1. *FIRST BECOMING A GOOD/TRUE FOLLOWER *
The Greek philosopher Aristotle said, *“He who cannot be a good follower cannot be a good leader.”* Because we have too many people who want to lead without first becoming clear, faithful and committed followers, our understanding of leadership has become unclear. *If you want to become a leader, first learn to be a good follower; then learn, and only after that begin to exercise leadership*. If we do this, we can become good leaders who can guide many people.

*THE NEED FOR CLEAR PLANNING AND VISION *
Because we lack clear vision and planning, much of our leadership effort contributes very little towards meaningful progress. The writer Katherine Anne Porter is said to have observed that _50% of people do not know where they are going, 40% cannot decide where they should go, and only 10% know where they want to go._ Likewise, many people do not have clear goals or plans for their future. Therefore, there is a great shortage of leaders who can clearly show people the right direction in which to move.

Therefore, a leader must not merely demand that people obey commands, but must offer guidance that people can naturally follow. To achieve this, it is vital to have clear planning and a well-defined direction. Yet, no matter how good our plans and directions may be, the crucial element is that we must take the initiative to put them into action.

*IMPLEMENTATION*
We cannot truly succeed when implementation is lacking. When we become leaders, many of us want to give orders rather than work first ourselves. Successful leaders are not those who merely instruct others, but those who emphasise action and implementation. As mentioned earlier, simply sitting on the chair of authority does not make someone a genuine leader.

_In leadership, there is a time to sit and a time to act. If you spend more time sitting on your throne than executing tasks, you will never achieve true success in your leadership_. As a leader, you must care for the people, lead by example so that others can follow, and take the initiative to act first. The people are watching their leaders very closely.

*CONCLUSION*
The reason division and disunity are so prevalent among the Zomi is that our leaders themselves are not united. Because of this, our community lacks progress and faces stagnation. Whether it is between different organizations, instead of cooperating, we tend to compete and undermine one another, which severely limits our advancement.

Therefore, if our leaders can communicate with one another, understand one another, and work together, then love, unity and comprehensive development can begin to flourish among our people. Our community cannot achieve complete progress when our leaders lack genuine concern for the people. When leaders lead without compassion and concern for the people, and instead lead merely through authority and superiority, progress becomes difficult.

Therefore, in order for us to produce successful leaders, let us move away from the pursuit of authority and position and instead focus on action, service, assistance and support, so that we can truly guide our people in the right direction. _May the Lord bless all Zomi leaders so that they may lead our people with wisdom, compassion, unity and genuine service!_

*“Leadership is not about authority; it is about action and service.”*
