A little boy who was forced by a war to move away from his house, became a refugee at the tender age.Shifted to the hotel as his house was burnt and started playing football in the hotel parking lot.
He was inspired to play football after watching Totti.
Was rejected by Hajduk after being light weight and young.
Performed better and was selected to play for Dinamo Zagreb from where he was loaned to a Bosnian team.
Became Bosnian Premier league Player of the Year at just 18.
Played and performed for Dinamo Zagreb for Four years, was scouted by Barcelona, Arsenal and Manchester City,but waited for a team where he could explore.
Signed by Tottenham Hotspur for €16.5m, which was club record fees paid at that time.
Performed at Premier league too despite critics claiming him light weight, against all the odds. Continued playing for Spurs after Tottenham stopped his move to Chelsea.
Real Madrid signed him for €30m, was once again targeted by critics who claimed him to be the worst Laliga signing in his first year,once again proved them wrong by ending his Real Madrid career with 28 trophies, most decorated Real Madrid player ever.
At the age of 39, the hunger to play is still more than ever.
