The Public Security Police Force (PSP) has uncovered a suspected sham marriage involving a local woman and a mainland man, allegedly arranged by a local woman in her 70s. Police said the suspect received RMB65,000 to help the man obtain a Macau ID card. The pair, both in their 40s, allegedly married in the mainland in 2016 but never lived together. The PSP believes all three committed offenses and has referred the case to the Public Prosecutions Office.

The rainstorms that hit Macau yesterday afternoon, with the passage of typhoon Podul, caused havoc in several areas of Taipa and Cotai. Significant flooding was recorded at Caminho das Hortas, Rua de Fernão Mendes Pinto (the area surrounding the former Iec Long Firecracker Factory), and at the Seac Pai Van roundabout in Coloane. The Health Bureau (SSM) have warned that the risk of community transmission of dengue and chikungunya fever in Macau cannot be ruled out, citing rising cases in nearby regions and the high-risk season for Aedes mosquito activity. Director Alvis Lo said 15 staff are assigned to mosquito control, with 60 more recently trained. There are no rapid tests for chikungunya. Residents with dengue-like symptoms, such as fever, rash, or joint pain, are urged to seek medical attention immediately.
