Neptunes, who had already topped the regular-season standings, sealed the championship with another dominant display, never allowing Sliema to threaten their grip on the title.

Gianluca Chetcuti delivered one of Malta’s standout performances at the XX Mediterranean Games in Taranto, finishing fourth in the Trap Men’s Final after a composed and competitive showing against seven of the region’s top shooters.

Chetcuti entered the final in excellent form, having placed fourth in qualification with 120 clays, just one behind Spain’s Andrés García García and Greece’s Ioannis Chatzitsakiroglou, and four behind Italy’s Emanuele Buccolieri. His strong start in the final kept him in early contention for the podium, even briefly challenging for the lead.

Ultimately, Chetcuti hit 17 of 20 targets before elimination. He finished level with Italy’s Buccolieri, but the tie‑break determined by bib number went in the Italian’s favour, leaving the Maltese shooter just outside the medals.

Gold was decided in dramatic fashion, with García García defeating Chatzitsakiroglou in a shoot‑off after both hit 28 targets. Buccolieri secured bronze with 21.

Malta’s second entrant, William Chetcuti, narrowly missed the final after finishing two clays short of qualification.

Neptunes entered the final series as regular‑season leaders and immediately asserted control. Their fast start proved crucial, with early goals setting the tone and forcing Sliema onto the back foot. The Reds’ attacking trio — including Steve Camilleri, Marko Zuvela and Sam Gialanze delivered throughout, combining clinical finishing with relentless pressure.

Defensively, Neptunes were equally composed. Goalkeeper Matthew Castillo produced key interventions at pivotal moments, shutting down Sliema’s attempts to shift momentum. With superior organisation and sharper ex*****on, Neptunes maintained control from start to finish.

Campos Racing driver Jacob Micallef delivered one of his strongest weekends to date in the Spanish F4 Championship, claiming a hard‑earned third place in Race 1 at Circuito del Jarama. Starting from third on the grid, Micallef held firm through four safety‑car restarts, defending brilliantly to secure his first podium of the season.

The Maltese rookie set the tone early, running consistently inside the top three during free practice. Qualifying for Race 1 proved a learning curve: after experimenting with new lines in his opening run, he improved significantly on fresh tyres to secure fourth, later promoted to third due to a rival’s penalty.

In Race 1, Micallef resisted early pressure from Rocco Coronel and even briefly challenged for second before the leaders’ pace kept him at bay. His strongest defence came during a late restart, where he held off multiple attackers at once before pulling clear.

The remaining races were tougher to convert, with Micallef finishing eighth in Race 2 and 13th in Race 3 after a series of setbacks. Still, the weekend delivered a breakthrough podium and clear progress, leaving him 12th overall and 6th among rookies in the 43‑driver field.

Alex Borg visited the Malta Paintball National Team ahead of their UPBF Paintball World Championship campaign in Dreux, France, next September.

Borg argued that "I had the pleasure of meeting with the Malta National Paintball Team that will be making history next September, representing Malta in the country's first time competing in the UPBF Paintball World Championship."

He argued that paintball went "from being a sport built from nothing, with passion, effort, and a lot of work, today the moment has arrived for the Maltese flag to be waved on the world stage."

Borg wished the team all the success and expressed how proud the Maltese people are of the team.
