A year since its grand opening last October, the Malta International Contemporary Arts Space (MICAS), is set to host a new exhibition, Beyond the Bastions, that looks inwards with a curated display of photography and documentation on the genesis and development of this cultural destination. From the process behind the choice of historical site to architectural interventions and its innovative gallery spaces, discover the intricacies behind the making of MICAS.

Wall decorations dating back to the French period were discovered in a balcony at the Grand Master's Palace overlooking Archbishop Street in Valletta. The painted decorations, unveiled during restoration works carried out by Heritage Malta, were discovered beneath several layers of paint, likely hidden when the walls and balcony were whitewashed in the early British period.

In 's main shop window at the heart of Oxford Street in is a mannequin that's a first of its kind - a female, seated in a wheelchair, that was co-designed with disability advocate and wheelchair user Sophie Morgan. Now present in over 20 of the brand's flagship stores across nine countries, the mannequin features physical characteristics that reflect the strength and posture of manual wheelchair users - making "a powerful statement that disabled people exist."

The retail giant collaborated with British TV presenter and disability advocate, Sophie Morgan.
