We were proud of our client **Székely Csaba**, whose play **‘10’** was presented in a staged-reading format at the Hungarian contemporary arts festival in New York, **September 3–7**.

Organised by the **Hungary L!ve Arts Foundation**, the festival’s mission was to showcase outstanding creators from Hungary’s contemporary art scene to U.S. audiences.

Programs took place at **The Gallery at Dobbin Mews** and **TBSP Studio** in Brooklyn, featuring exhibitions as well as theatre and dance performances. Attendance was free with advance registration.

🎭 From “multifunctional serfdom” to leading roles in puppet theatre! 🎭
http://xn--kultra-sya.hu/ interviewed our client, **Bartha Bendegúz**. He grew up alongside his father, a traditional fairground puppeteer, and today he’s one of the defining artists of the **Budapest Puppet Theatre**. 💫
For him, the puppet is a living partner: “When I animate a puppet, breathing together is what matters,” he says.

His path to the SZFE puppetry program led through **Denmark** and even a **cattle farm**; since then, he’s starred in major roles like **Peer Gynt** and **Krabat in The Black Mill**.

Next season he returns in **Semmi 2.0** and **A sárkányfutó átka**, and he dreams of touring the country with his own traveling show, **Taxismesék**. 🚗🎪

The Amargant Theatre Workshop's forest theatre performance was recently staged! 🌳🎭

A question-theatre world premiere based on Franz Kafka's works: The Trial, The Castle, and The Metamorphosis.

"Jozef K., a land surveyor searching for a village, gets lost among the trees of a dense, dark forest. The village is nowhere to be found. But according to the map, it should be there… This two-act performance—written specifically for the Farkasgyepű forest—draws inspiration from 3 of Franz Kafka's works. Our actors improvised based on these Kafkaesque worlds, and the play was written along those lines. The result was a very dense, formally quite complex, and literary script, whose main feature is that, with the exception of one sentence, it lacks declarative, exclamatory, and optative sentences, as the entire play is written in interrogative sentences (questions)❓."

A two-day summer pantomime and physical theatre experience course for adults! ☀️🎭

The event will be held by our client, Veronika Karsai, on August 16-17, 2025, at the Pasaréti Közösségi Ház (Pasarét Community Centre).

On July 17th, the musical performance 'Good evening summer, good evening love' premiered at the Zenthe Ferenc Theatre 🎭🎶.

Our main character, a 'hooligan', is a dreamy young man whose main desire is to be loved. He feels he will only be accepted if he pretends to be someone else, different from what his social status has predestined him for. He invents an unattainable dream world for himself, posing as a Greek diplomat to court pretty girls who would probably not even talk to a simple locksmith's boy ❤️‍🔥. The lyricism inherent in this tragedy is enhanced by the songs of Gábor Presser, which have been supplemented with new melodies for our premiere. An interesting fact is that Ferenc Zenthe also acted in the 1969 film adaptation of Endre Fejes's work 🎬.

On July 10th, the performance 'La Grange', about Ferenc Erkel, premiered at the Gyulai Várszínház (Gyula Castle Theatre) 🎭.

The play is set after the defeat of the war of independence, in 1850, when Erkel is the conductor of the National Theatre, Haynau leaves the country, and the Hungarian National Anthem is heard for the first time. This is when Ferenc Erkel meets the great love of his life, French singer Anne de La Grange, who captivates his heart and tempts him to the West ❤️‍🔥. Erkel feels he cannot allow himself uninhibited love. He is bound by his oath, his patriotism, and his sense of responsibility. The famous La Grange aria is born from their unfulfilled love 🎶. Meanwhile, after the defeated war of independence, the resistance is already reawakening…

The production is a joint creation of the Soproni Petőfi Theatre and the Gyulai Várszínház, and it will be on the program at the Soproni Petőfi Theatre from mid-November 🤝.

On July 25th, the Bartók Chamber Theatre premiered its performance of 'As You Like It' 🎭. Shakespeare's lyrical comedy was staged in the open-air theatre in the inner courtyard of the Vasvári Pál Primary School 🌙.

Ab Ovo, Prophecy
From the beginning – from the creation of the world to the inner apocalypse

"Ab Ovo is a Latin phrase that literally means 'from the egg' or 'from the beginning.' In classical literature, it often refers to telling a story from its very start, while in a religious context, it evokes the act of creation, the origin of life, and the mystery of the primordial beginning. In Christian tradition, the egg is a symbol of resurrection and rebirth – it also reminds us of the state before the fall, the time of innocence.

The series on display explored the concept of Ab Ovo in several ways: examining the beginnings and endings of individual and collective existence, the fragmentation of inner worlds, the boundaries between body and soul, and the presence of cultural, mythical, and religious structures reaching back in time within today's identity. The images consist of separate cycles, yet they form a single arc: the story of drifting towards the end of the world – or a new beginning."
