Have you ever felt like you weren’t the “smart one”?

I certainly wasn’t.

I was never the straight A student.

Most of the time I was just trying to pass.

There were people who seemed naturally gifted, more confident, more capable, and I often wondered if I’d ever measure up.

Fast forward to today…

I’m a teacher.
I’m completing my MBA.
I’m building a business that exists to help people discover who they are and grow into who they’re called to be.

Not because I had it all figured out.

But because I kept showing up.

One small step.
One opportunity.
One lesson.
One “yes” at a time.

I’m still learning.
Still growing.
Still becoming.

This page isn’t about pretending I’ve made it.

It’s about documenting the journey and hopefully reminding someone else that your starting point doesn’t determine your destination.

You don’t have to be the smartest person in the room.

Just don’t stop believing that you can grow.

Welcome—I’m Julie. 🤍

The most influential leaders aren’t perfect.
They’re intentional 🔂

They need leaders who are willing to listen, learn, communicate honestly and lead with integrity.

The truth is, none of us have all the answers. Leadership isn’t about pretending to have everything figured out—it’s about showing up consistently, growing through challenges and bringing out the best in those around us.

Whether you’re leading a team, a classroom, a business or your family, remember this:

The most influential leaders aren’t perfect.
They’re intentional.

What quality do you think makes a great leader? I’d love to hear your thoughts below.

Behind the brand is a simple belief:

When people are seen, valued, and developed, they rise.

The Rise Edit exists to create conversations, experiences, and opportunities that help people step confidently into who they’re becoming.

This is only the beginning.

“It’s about people. It’s about making room for everyone regardless of where you come from.“ - JV This is one of the reasons The Rise Edit exists.

Behind every leader, student, parent, business owner, teacher or team member is a person carrying pressures that often go unseen.

The pressure to perform.
The pressure to lead.
The pressure to have it all together.
The pressure to keep going when you’re tired.

Through our workshops, development programs and mentoring conversations, we’ve seen the power of creating spaces where people can pause, relate, belong, reflect, grow and realise they don’t have to navigate everything alone.

Real development isn’t just about skills and performance.

It’s about people. It’s about making room for everyone regardless of where you come from.

Because when people feel seen, valued and equipped, they rise.

What’s a pressure you think people don’t talk about enough?

For a while, this was just an idea.

A few notes.
A few conversations.
A lot of prayer.
A lot of doubt.
A lot of growth.

But lately I’ve been reminded why this matters.

Every week I have the privilege of working alongside young people, leaders and people navigating life’s challenges and opportunities. Through those conversations, one thing continues to stand out:

People rise when someone believes in them.

The Rise Edit was never created to be another business.

It was created to help people find confidence, develop leadership, strengthen communication and realise their potential.

This is only the beginning.

Thank you to everyone who has encouraged, challenged and supported the journey so far.

I spent many years believing leadership belonged to the loudest people in the room.
The people with the most confidence.
The biggest personalities.
The strongest voices.
What I’ve learned through education, leadership and life is this:
Leadership isn’t about being the loudest.
It’s about having the courage to show up be authentic, relatable, serve others and keep growing.
At The Rise Edit, we believe there’s room for everyone to rise.
Including you.
