Gudaf Tsegay 🇪🇹 has been banned for 4 months after testing positive for a metabolite of Letrozole in an out-of-competition test conducted on 5 December 2025!
Tsegay was prescribed Letrozole to treat a diagnosed medical condition (fertility issues) and provided supporting medical evidence after being notified of the positive test in January 2026.
She later submitted a Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) application, and the World Athletics Therapeutic Use Exemption Committee confirmed that her treatment met the requirements for a TUE. However, an application for a retroactive TUE was ultimately rejected by WADA.
Tsegay subsequently entered into a Case Resolution Agreement with the AIU and WADA, admitting anti-doping rule violations for the presence and use of a prohibited substance.
The 4-month sanction was deemed appropriate due to her prompt admission, the absence of significant fault or negligence, and the finding that she would have been granted a TUE had it been requested in advance.
Her period of ineligibility runs from 1 June 2026 to 30 September 2026.
