Bishop Dr Chimwemwe Mhango has reflected on his several life-threatening experiences and has survived.

Bishop Dr Mhango said the threads have strengthened his belief that God has a purpose for his life.

In a Facebook post, Mhango revealed that he lost one eye at the age of seven and later survived incidents including being swept away by a river, hit by a car, a bus accident, a plane-related incident and an attack by armed robbers.

“With all the above mentioned facts, no one can tell me that God had nothing to do with my life,” he wrote.

He added, “God has purpose. And He still has a lot to do with me,” quoting Jeremiah 1:5 to emphasize his belief in a divine calling.

His reflection has been received as a testimony of survival, faith and gratitude, highlighting his conviction that his life has a greater purpose.

Mighty Wanderers Football Club say they will start selling CAF Champions league match against Simba SC tickets on Monday 31st August 2026.

Speaking at the press briefing at the team's Club house at Lali lubani in Blantyre, Chairperson for Commercialization, Dr Addrex Kalinde said they have lined up almost 15 selling points for tickets for easily accessible in Lilongwe and one in Blantyre at the club house.

"On broadcasting rights, Azam TV is handling for tv and for the radio, our office is open to negotiate with those interested", Dr Kalinde explains.

On his part, Chairperson of the Football Directorate at Mighty Wanderers, David Kanyenda Esq confirms that there will be no additional player to the team, as they believe in the squad that is there.

Kanyenda added that the team is aware on how hard is to play away in the Champions league in terms of food and other hostile conditions in Tanzania, and are prepared for that.

Mighty Wanderers is making a return to the Champions league having participate last in 2017 and last year they participated in the CAF Confederations Cup.

Mighty wanderers is playing the first leg at Bingu National stadium on Sunday, 6th September and return leg away on 13th September at Uhuru stadium in Tanzania.

Maranatha Private Schools Managing Director Dr Ernest Kawonga says the institution has started verifying candidates who passed its scholarship entrance examinations amid concerns that some applicants may have used friends to write the examinations on their behalf.

Speaking at a press briefing in Blantyre on Wednesday, Kawonga said the examinations were generally successful, but the school noticed discrepancies involving some candidates whose performance was markedly different from their Malawi National Examinations Board (MANEB) results.

“It looks like some have failed miserably during MANEB but have done very well during the Maranatha examination, which is suspicious,” he said.

Kawonga said 485 students have so far passed the intake examination, against the school's target of awarding scholarships to 500 students.

He said the candidates are now undergoing verification, after which successful applicants will be selected.

He added that the selected students will undergo another assessment at the school and those who fail the subsequent test risk losing their scholarships.

Kawonga said Maranatha would honour its commitment to provide 500 scholarships, and would continue inviting applications if the target is not reached.

Each scholarship will be worth K24 million, covering a student's education from Form One to Form Four.

Meanwhile, Kawonga disclosed that the school has dismissed some members of staff for allegedly accepting bribes of up to K2 million from parents in exchange for favouring their children.

He also confirmed that Duwama has been awarded a full scholarship, including K500,000 in pocket money. He added that Sharda University has additionally reserved a place for Duwama to study in India on a full-time scholarship.

Medical evidence took centre stage at the High Court in Blantyre today as the prosecution presented testimony detailing how Dr Victoria Bobe was killed.

Pathologist Dr Steve Kamiza told the court that Bobe died from a close-range gunshot wound to the head. He said the bullet entered through the back of her head, passed through the skull, struck the ceiling and eventually landed on the bed.
Kamiza testified that the injuries were severe and directly caused Bobe’s death.

The court then heard from Superintendent Lawrence Gondwe, a fi****ms specialist at Lilongwe Police Headquarters, who said evidence collected at the scene was consistent with a semi-automatic firearm having been fired at close range.
Gondwe told the court that police recovered a bullet from the scene, while gunpowder residue was detected on the door as well as on Bobe’s head and neck.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the killing also came under scrutiny when Assistant
Superintendent John Julius Makolija of Limbe Police Station testified that the deceased’s security guard, Peter Mphepo, allegedly provided significant information to the accused before the attack.

Justice Ruth Chinangwa adjourned the case to this afternoon, when the State, represented by lawyers from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions, is expected to call another witness.

Seven people are on trial for murder, robbery and burglary over the death of Bobe, who was killed at her home in Chigumula, Blantyre, on November 17, 2025.
