Namibia’s Minister of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety, and Security, Dr Albert Kawana, made the announcement during Zambia’s 59th Independence Day celebration in Windhoek. He revealed that both governments are working closely to implement the new travel arrangement.

“Very soon, Zambian citizens will be able to enter Namibia using only their ID cards. We are working to abolish the use of passports between our countries,” Dr Kawana stated.

This follows a similar agreement reached earlier this year between Namibia and Botswana, making them the first countries in Southern Africa to permit cross-border travel using only national ID cards.

Zambia’s High Commissioner to Namibia, Stephen Katuka, also praised the deep-rooted ties between the two nations, recalling Zambia’s support for Namibia’s liberation struggle.

In another show of cooperation, both countries have agreed to allow convicted nationals to serve the rest of their prison sentences in their home countries.

BREAKING:
Libya's National Oil Corporation (NOC) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with U.S. oil giant ExxonMobil, marking a significant step after more than a decade of halted operations in the North African nation. The agreement aims to facilitate in-depth geological and geophysical studies to assess hydrocarbon potential in four offshore blocks off Libya’s northwest coast, as well as in the Sirte Basin. This renewed collaboration may represent a step toward restitution for the Libyan people, who continue to grapple with the aftermath of Col. Gaddafi’s removal—a move widely seen as driven by Western interests.

The group sought $8.4 million in refunds and successfully obtained at least $2.5 million before being detected. Amachukwu was arrested in France after investigations.

A team of desert trekkers in the central Sahara has found several migrants dead beside their abandoned gear. The victims had set out for Europe across the desert but collapsed from dehydration and exhaustion before reaching help. Passports scattered near the bodies show they were citizens of the Republic of Nigeria. Their deaths are another harsh reminder of how desperation, limited legal migration routes, and smuggling networks continue to turn the Sahara into a graveyard.

For how long will Africans die like this running away from the most beautiful, most blessed with resources and good weather place on earth to go to the hostile west or east simple because of lacking good governance and ideas to create sources of income and good governance in the continent?

The deportees are from Vietnam, Jamaica, Laos, Cuba and Yemen, and have been convicted of crimes ranging from child r**e to murder, according to the US Homeland Security Department.
