For a long time, I thought I could beat this on my own — the addiction, the guilt, the constant battle no one else could see. I kept fighting in silence, believing strength meant never asking for help. I swung every weapon I had — willpower, pride, routine — until my hands bled and my spirit wore thin. I stayed sober for a while, then relapsed. Again and again. And then one day, I broke — not with a scream, but with a whisper: “I can’t do this anymore.” And strangely, that was when everything shifted. Because it turns out God doesn’t step in when we’re still trying to be our own savior. He waits until we drop the sword. In that moment of surrender, I looked behind me — and I saw them. An army of angels. Not gentle, quiet ones, but warriors. Ready. Rushing in from the distance. And I realized I had never been alone; I was just too busy fighting to see who had my back. So no, I haven’t won yet. I still fall. I still ache. But I’ve stopped trying to win without Him. I’m done fighting alone. Now I stand still… and let God fight for me.
