Member of Parliament for Mzimba North, Yeremia Chihana has failed to give evidence to allegations he made in parliament on Monday that Tonse Alliance government ministers are corrupt. Chihana who challenged the house that he has evidence of corrupt dealings by some ministers failed to give the evidence during parliament meeting on Friday.
Chihana who has on several occasions came to parliament with serious allegations over public figures including former president the late Bingu Bingu Wa Mutharika was advised by speaker of Parliament, Catherine Gotani Hara either to bring evidence to the allegations he made on Monday or withdraw the sentiments.
After a moment of heated discussion with some members demanding that Chihana be declared a lier, the speaker allowed Chihana to present the evidence to her office or risk facing a form of undisclosed punishment.
Recently political commentator Humphrey Mvula told Kwacha Magazine that Chihana's actions were influenced by bitterness because he was not appointed as a cabinet minister despite assisting the Tonse Alliance during the campaign. According to our source who sought anonymity, Chihana was eyeing the Ministry of Lands.
