🤝 Girls Get Equal Movement – Our Last Meeting
This week, we held an engaging and interactive facilitation on Teamwork. Members discussed the importance of working together, effective communication, mutual respect, trust, and shared responsibility in achieving our goals.
The session reminded us that teamwork is not just about working together—it is about supporting one another, valuing every member's contribution, and building a stronger movement. We left the meeting inspired, motivated, and committed to strengthening our collaboration as we continue empowering girls and young women.
Together we are stronger. Together we create change. 💜

🌍 Day of the African Child 2026 | Girls Get Equal 🌍

Today, we join the rest of Africa in celebrating the Day of the African Child. We reaffirm our commitment to ensuring that every girl has equal access to education, opportunities, protection, and a voice in decisions that affect her future.

Through the Girls Get Equal Movement, we continue to empower girls to lead, learn, and thrive. Together, we can build a society where every child is valued, respected, and given the opportunity to reach their full potential.

💜 Let Girls Learn. Let Girls Lead. Let Girls Thrive. 💜 Empowered Girls, Stronger Communities, Better Africa.

Today, we successfully held our weekly meeting at the Plan Library. We had meaningful discussions on personal hygiene, menstrual hygiene management, mental health, leadership, girls' rights, education, and life skills.

The session provided an opportunity for members to learn, share experiences, and support one another as we continue working towards empowering girls and young women in our community.

Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to making the meeting successful. Together, we are building a brighter future for girls.

Happy Africa Day! 🌍✨

Today we celebrate the beauty, strength, courage, and dreams of African girls and young women. Across our continent, girls are rising above challenges, breaking barriers, leading communities, and creating a brighter future for Africa.

Every girl deserves equal opportunities, quality education, protection, respect, and the freedom to achieve her dreams. When we empower girls and young women, we empower Africa itself.

Let us continue to stand against child marriages, gender-based violence, discrimination, and all forms of inequality. Together, we can create safe spaces where every African girl can learn, lead, grow, and thrive with confidence.

Africa’s future is powerful because African girls are powerful. 💜

Today, we held our weekly meeting at Plan Library, where 30 girls and 9 boys participated. During the meeting, we discussed different ways we can support teen mothers and how boys and girls can work together to help build a better community.

It was a powerful discussion filled with ideas, teamwork, and encouragement for young people to create positive change in society. Together, we can support education, equality, and empowerment for all. 💜

The Girls Get Equal Movement has been implementing a project called Education Shift Power, which focuses on supporting teen mothers who dropped out of school due to pregnancy. Through this initiative, we have supported 12 teen mothers by advocating for their right to education, encouraging them to return to school, and helping them regain hope and confidence for a better future.

As part of the project, we established a crèche center where children can be cared for while their mothers attend classes. This has created a safe and supportive environment that allows young mothers to continue their education without worrying about the safety and well-being of their children. In addition, we have supported two vulnerable children with essential school needs to ensure they also have access to education.

Beyond education support, Girls Get Equal Movement continues to empower girls and young women through mentorship, leadership training, life skills sessions, awareness campaigns, and safe spaces where they can freely express themselves and discuss challenges affecting their lives. We advocate against early marriages, gender discrimination, gender-based violence, and other barriers that prevent girls from achieving their full potential.

Despite the progress made, we still face several challenges, including limited resources, lack of learning materials, school fees, and insufficient support to reach more teen mothers in need. We also require additional support to improve the crèche center and provide better care and learning opportunities for the children.

Many girls in our communities still face poverty, discrimination, early marriages, and family-related challenges that negatively affect their education and future opportunities. Due to financial difficulties, many vulnerable girls remain at risk of dropping out of school and losing hope for a brighter future.

However, Girls Get Equal Movement remains committed to empowering girls and young women, building their confidence and leadership skills, and ensuring that no girl is left behind. Together, we believe we can create communities where every girl has equal opportunities to learn, grow, lead, and achieve her dreams.
