Kenya's President William Ruto has ordered police to shoot in the legs protesters targeting businesses.
Kenyans have from Monday this week been protesting against police brutality, among other reasons.
Ruto says those targeting shops should be incapacitated but not killed.
"Anyone caught burning another person's business or property should be shot in the leg, hospitalized, and later taken to court. Don't kill them, but ensure their legs are broken," the president said.
Meanwhile, United Nations and human rights groups have accused the police of using excessive force in the recent wave of anti-government protests.
