ARRESTED FOR ARMED ROBBERY AND MURDER
Police in Mzuzu have on 13 May, 2025, arrested Elia Levison, Jimmy Nyirenda, and Jimmy Adam for armed robbery and murder after investigations linked them to several violent crimes in the city.
According to Mzuzu Police Deputy Public Relations Officer Sub Inspector Cecilia Mfune, the first suspect was arrested in Katoto, leading to the capture of two others in Sozibele Lines. Another suspect, Patrick Phiri, was shot dead after pointing a loaded pistol at police officers during the raid.
Mfune says the group robbed Andrew Katona of K5 million and a Samsung phone in Luwinga Township on May 10, 2025, firing three shots into the air before escaping.
The suspects confessed to stealing K100 million from businessman Hassim Irfan on April 24, 2025, and are linked to the murder of Chiukepo Sichali, who was killed on March 27, 2025.
Police recovered a blue Toyota Vitz, a pistol, 58 bullets, two mattresses, a home theatre, a 42-inch TV, and 40 bags of cement. The suspects will appear in court soon to face murder and robbery charges.
