Speech by Ernest Mtemweka Chilambo
One Youth One Voice
First, we give respect to the Chief here in Chitipa for welcoming us. We also thank the people who have come from Karonga. Special thanks to Wakisa Marita for preparing this place for us to meet.
We are here to talk about change so that everyone can hear the message. We, the team of One Youth One Voice, have come from Mzuzu. We have already held meetings in Mzuzu, Karonga, Nkhata Bay, Mzimba, and today, on the 12th, we are in Chitipa.
I am standing here together with the youth and all our coordinators from different districts. We have agreed on one thing: anyone who promises us something but fails to do it, and only wants to use us for their own benefit, must be removed from leadership. We don’t want leaders who just cheat us.
One Youth One Voice is also called Generation Z. It means it is for everyone, especially those born around the year 2000. We want leaders who do what they say, not only speak without action.
This project, One Youth One Voice for Change Malawi, started two years ago. Now we are crossing into a new stage because the elections are coming. Let us not vote because someone gives us money or gifts. No. Let us vote for change, for leaders who will help the people of Malawi. Do not let anyone scare you with power or money. Be wise, and choose the right leader.
If we vote for people who don’t bring progress, then we are the ones who will suffer for five years. The time is over for lies. Whether you beat me, whether you kill me, I will still say the truth: leaders are stealing too much, and they want to use the youth for their own gain during times like this. We must not allow that.
One Youth One Voice is for change. One Youth One Voice is for Malawi.
