Digital skills for all...

From Kenya (CLEAR BootCamp and GDC) to what was meant to be Zambia for RightsCon, and eventually South Africa for the BUILD Bootcamp, the journey has been both unexpected and insightful.

Each space reinforced one reflection: conversations about digital governance must move beyond theory and connect with the realities of communities often left out of digital transformation.

One discussion that stayed was on AI as a commons. It raised an important question: how do we meaningfully participate in AI usage, rather than only being consumers of it?

I was also inspired by how McDonald Lewanika simplifies complex ideas around digital governance, making them easier to understand and apply in real community contexts -Praise

These reflections continue to shape how we think about an initiative like OKA Rural Digital Hub, and the role it can play in making digital innovation more inclusive and accountable.

Despite being his birthday, today our leader was at Edge Water Court in Lilongwe attending and contributing to 2026 Masculinities workshop. As we continue bridging the digital devide we are maintaining inclusivity.

We have joined Clean Cities Project and other partners as we are delivering a Climate Justice petition at Parliament of Malawi. We need climate Justice. We need it now. As OKA we are in this as a digital social enterprise that design sustainable digital based solutions in climate change and Smart Agriculture.Clean Cities Project

Last week, our team leader was in Nairobi, Kenya attending the CLEAR Bootcamp as a Digital Governance Incubate gaining valuable lessons, opportunities, and building strong networks with participants across Africa, all of which will strengthen our social enterprise.

We are building and refining our community-based digital solution by providing access to digital gadgets and information through our lab, promoting a clear understanding of civic rights and engagement, and strengthening the citizen–state relationship.

Through ALESA, the team leader also had the opportunity to attend the Global Democracy Coalition Africa Regional Forum under the theme “Reclaiming Our Democratic Promise.”

Meet: Praise Davison Kagoya | Digital Governance Incubator | Malawi
Praise Davison Kagoya is a Malawian digital innovation leader, GIS specialist, and Land Surveyor with expertise in digital modelling, spatial analysis, and technology-driven community solutions. He holds a BSc in Land Management (Land Surveying) from Mzuzu University and advanced certifications in ICT and renewable energy.

He serves as Business Director at OKA, where he leads OKA Nexus, a rural digital hub advancing digital governance, accountability, and inclusion. Based in Nsaru Trading Centre under Traditional Authority Kabudula in Lilongwe District, OKA Nexus provides access to digital devices, internet connectivity, and training in digital literacy, coding, GIS, and civic technology. Praise champions access to technology for women, youth, and children, empowering communities to use digital tools for voice, transparency, entrepreneurship, and sustainable development.
